So it's been made clear that global chat channels are not going to be a thing.

This makes organization difficult in some ways, particularly for those who aren't in the main guilds. From what I gather, you can have 20 guilds in an Alliance + the starter guild for the alliance.

What do we want this to look like for our realm come launch? I think it would be a boon to try and get a majority of the active guilds under one alliance as we will have the ability to spread the message via our own "global Albion channel" so to speak.

And then onto the more contentious questions...

What is acceptable usage of such an Alliance if one is made as I expect? Purely planning or RvR talk? Allow people to shoot the breeze with each other?

My opinion is to keep it relatively open and light on rules and restrictions. No spamming, no offensive discussion or fighting in the chat - essentially - don't be a dick.

Keeping people in line would be an agreement for guilds to discipline their own members or their guild would be removed from the Alliance.

Just some ideas to get the ball rolling. I've half a mind to start up my own guild going forward depending on what pops up at launch. We very well may see multiple alliances in the realm depending on what everyone wants - I think cohesiveness is important but if the other sections of the forum are any indicator we all expect and can handle different things.

I think a big alliance with all the major guilds would be good and should have a minimum number of members for your guild to join the alliance since there is a cap. First come first serve, perhaps have a monthly meeting with the guild leaders to discuss various realm issues, resolve possible disputes between the participating guilds, and take democratic action if needed (like removal of a guild from the alliance or adding one in). Knights of the round table kind of thing.

Definitely useful to have a major channel for realm communication.

You can have more than 1guild in an alliance, there is no problem.
