is it just me or does the loot not suck and the gold you get is a joke? Vending warn cab staff for 86 silver, vending studded arms for 86 silver, the same drops in the lower level dungeon catacombs worth 2x or 5x as much.

Salvage your drops. I made around 300g from a few hours in barrows in an 8 man group. I got lucky with the randoms but if you're soloing you can make a lot.

Barrows salvage was altered to 'relfect the patch' at end of beta.

It threw it off. some was fixed, some not. A lot up near the entrance salvages for so little you better off to just NPC it. Really!. Nothing should ever be that way.. but some giving 2 pieces of metal o.O

DOwn near the middle and bottom, and even the Wiz room it is better.
There are some items that are even broke for the good! Also the same with an item here and there , like dartmoor an xbow can salvage for 133 pieces of wood..

(yes i did testing on salvage and tried reporting in beta, but w/o screenshots of me salvaging them in 2003 it went nowhere)

I'm a spellcrafter and not everyone salvages. 86 silver in barrows 2 gold in lower level dungeon. Rest my case.

I'm also a SCer.. Just make a salvaging friend. I offer 20% to anyone who wants to take the time to salvage for me. My last haul even after giving 20% I made like 700g.

or create a char for salvaging and transfer your gear to him, that's whay I do.
AF90 studded could be easily worth 40g (let's say 20 asterite bars, maybe it's even netherium)
selling it for 1g is plain waste of time and money

btw if the cabby staff has at least lv36 matter focus i'm buying one :)

You're...you're vendoring Barrows drops?

Good God. The breastplates salvage into 100 asterite. That's 112g. Find someone to salvage your ******.

Disagree it's waste of time to sell dropped loot. Takes less time to do that vs creating a crafter, leveling said crafter, keeping your packs full and running to Camelot with encumberance, transferring loot to your alt via a 3rd party, taking the time to salvage. By the time that's said and done I spent 2 more hours leveling and you're still alone crafting in camelot with a lvl 23 alt character.

To each is own but the money earned from crafting isn't always worth the time investment. I'd rather spend it farming for a specific item and selling it on housing for 2 plat.

The return on the investment of leveling a tradeskill up enough to salvage everything absolutely destroys selling loot to vendors or, for that matter, selling farmed loot on the market explorer. This is incontrovertible.

That said, if you don't really have a need for money, it's obviously not a good use of your time, no...but at least at this stage of the game, making boatloads of cash is pretty important for everyone.

For reference: I made 2 plat in 90 minutes last night in the Barrows (while getting really good XP to boot).

I drop gear, I salvage it, level up my crafting using the bars I got and selling what's left.
I actually make money leveling up my crafting just selling the stuff I created with the metal bars I didn't have to buy.
I think only someone who doesn't know how to craft & salvage properly would say what you said.

The real kicker here is why everyone doesn't have a tailor. They pay for themselves, quick to skill up, cheap to skill up, and will make you enough cash to supply other crafters and templates for the rest of your stay here.

I get there are other crafts, but if you find yourself broke with no means of making money in this game and still refuse to make a tailor to 1k w/wood/metal also at 1k then you have nobody to blame but yourself. Zero excuses. By the time I hit level 50 my tailor had made 42p in salvage.

Since making this tailor I've also funded LGM SC and ALCH.
