Awesome response Seyha thanks a lot !

I'm actually coming up as sword instead of spear. Like you mentioned in your post, my thoughts are (but don't have first hand experience) sword is going to hit (penetrate defenses) more often than spear. I imagine spear would yield more damage per hit but at what sacrifice to actually landing hits.

basically i'm figuring that hitting more freq with less damage (sword) >> hitting less freq higher damage spear.

Also I figure for the small chance of a 2nd style evade stun in sword seems intriguing. Thoughts on landing hits VS damage between sword and spear?

You're welcome!

Unfortunately the "to-hit" bonus with styles does not effect your ability to penetrate defense. It only affects miss rate. So with a high bonus to-hit you will miss slightly less than you would with spear, but that is the only difference.

I tried a Sword spec primarily for the evade stun you mentioned. Unfortunately Hunters simply do not have the evade chance to make this style worth the effort. On the rare occasion that I did land the stun it was purged instantly. The back-stun from Spear offers a lot more utility.

Spear is vastly superior to Sword for a Hunter. Even if you're a dwarf or a norse.
