I see you have a 7L2 hunter by your signature so I assume your being serious. Is the hunter really as bad as these guys say? I know even on live they say mele hunters suck but I know for a fact that they dont. I'm starting to wonder if it is the same here. How long has it taken you to get to 7L2 and how often do you play if you dont mind me asking?

Hi and welcome on uthgard.
Sorry but you assume wrong, i was just ironic. Hunters and scouts are really gimped in this server because of completely idiot melee mechanics we have. Unfortunately here if you can't use two weapons you will do poor damage and be evaded/blocked 90% of the times. For example as you can see from this screenshot of this morning in df a 4L ranger evaded me 6 times and overdamaged me (a 7L hunter) just spamming anythime with self add dmg. From the screen you can see the average pet dmg too (and cry).
I was not buffed of course in df (just self) and probably he was fullbuffed, but example still is a good photo of actual hunter status (i've used ip2 and a healthpot and he was still at 20% at the end of fight without even using a health pot, but this is obvious with 6 evade and a slow 2h weapon). You can notice that i never evaded him too even if hunters have evade III just like tangers. Rangers are easyway and we have to fight with tons of them everyday (and they laugh at you too after they see how much your toon is a gimp from the stature of their overpowered class).
Obviously if you run fullbuffed you will have less evade, but thinking that a 7L hunter has to be buffed to fight a 4L ranger is really sad.

Moreover Hunters are more gimped even compared to scouts because of bugs and incomplete feature affecting this class. Plus there are bugs affecting archery system in general too, in fact 99% of rangers (the best stealther on uthgard atm because of dw+self add dmg+ip/pd combo) are melee. You can see a complete collection of hunters and archery bugs in a post made by Rector in the support section of the forum.

Despite this, i have to say that i love hunter class and even if it's so gimped on uthgard i've more fun with this class than the others. To answer your question i've played hunter in rvr for 1.5 years but i don't have a lot of spare time and sometimes i like to play my other toons too, so i can say that i don't play very much with him.

If you want to roll an hunter i can just say good luck and have fun, and advice you to go hybrid spec until 6L and then respec melee. Melee is better than hybrid but you can't afford all the RA you need at low rr.

Have a good day.

@ Celad

Thanks a bunch for your well thought out reply, there is some good insight. I'm not sure I want to put up with all thats been mentioned so I will probably be going a different route. I love hunters but it just seems like its going to be too much to handle. Thanks for your effort in preparation with the screen shots.

No problem mate, just have fun.
It's sad i know, but on this server if you want to do a lot rp with a stealther you have to add/zerg or do 24h guard task.
If you have fun doing this well, if you want to solo you will have hard time every class you will play.
