Ok so how are Hunters compared to other archer classes and stealthers?

If I remember they were lousy in classic because spear dmg was screwed up but really its been a LONG time and I could be wrong.

I thought I remember Scouts being the best dps with rangers and distant 2nd and hunters an even more distant 3rd because of short bow range and lower dps bows with faster shot rate which doesn't help your initial dmg.

If a scout comes up against another archer or stealthier how do they generally do against them if they have similar RA's and gear?

Hunters are good, if played correctly. <sometimes that does mean run and moan and watch your pet take 5 minutes to kill something while you you pray something doesn't gank you first>
Scouts are good DPS, with their bows; and only their bows.
Rangers, .... Jarqo will find this eventually.

All in all, play what you want and what jives your jitters.
If you become irate, angry, wrathful, furious, ireful, wroth or indignent by anything that I say to you or just in general; you should always remember, it's only because I care that I pay attention in the first place.

Honestly man. 1.6 patch level, you have 2 options. play a sneak. or bend over. no hunters.

hunter can still be strong, if played well, not that i could, but i know that its around 80% the person behind the screen losing fights, and not the class.

Hunters will get groups every 30 min then tossed to the curb and stomped on ....
fun times ... good toon to play if you have a S and M fetish.
hit me beat me show me you care
no hit me harder !! :P

truthfully hunters are fun ... but any toon can be fun

If you are looking for Uber over the top ranged stealther hunter is not the best choice .

my opinion but wuta I know ?

Hunter>Ranger>Scout . At least that's what Intimid Atetheenemy told me. Each one has their benefits and flaws. Hunter relies heavily on using combat styles with spear (learning to use backstun by combat walking is essential) while scouts have the best defense. A good scout will invest many points into PD and spec 50 shield, 50 stealth (with +bonus) and 39 bow. You use only shield styles and rely more on defense, as any melee weapon will do ****** in damage. As for rangers, they're the best in terms of how you can play them. Melee rangers have all the fun, hybrid ranger is probably the best to play. Having the dual wield means that you can get around most shields, but you don't really get as much in terms of defense. You don't need it though. Hunters are cooler though, so play them. 2h Spear in the ass of a lurikeen makes you feel empowered, that is... IF you can hit 50. Nobody wants to group with a hunter.

Hunter is arguably the worst class in the game, I played one on live back in the day(memories of being seen by sb/inf/ns at clip range) and had one on Uthgard from 08-11(deleted him).

As the above poster said, don't waste your time on Hunter unless you are an S&M fan.

I disagree, hunter can be good if played correctly
if you do the usual stealther rounds/spots/moves you'll get beaten often, adapt to use hunter strengths (pet, skirmish, hassle) you will even be invited to group

cheers

As far as I remember, the Hunter is the weakest of the three archers.
Hunters get evade 2 where as the other archers get evade 3, Midgard also has the complication of not having bows as slow (heavy) as Albion and Hibernia, so weaker archery DPS by comparison.

This and that evade gets a bonus vs 2H weapons and that Mid leather and RF resist tables if vs Blades. But one of my greatest enemies was a well played Hunter on my Ranger so it depends on the player for sure

All of the archers got their advantages vs others, it depends of situation and the battleground you fight atm. If you play well as hunter and love send your pet to interupt enemys go hunt, if you like scout blocks and slam->2x CS go scout, if you like gang bank stealth team at amg go ranger xD (sry couldn't resist), if you like bow style play+nice selfbuffs and available good mele dmg go ranger ;)

For the "nice selfbuffs" just remember, that the Ranger buffs were brought up to a decent level in patches 1.69 and 1.72 and Uthgard 2.0 will be patch 1.65. +48 dex/qui (60 with 25% spec buff bonus) for speccing 48 real points in buffs is sure nice, but that line (and hunters spec line too) was way better with Uthgard 1.0 patch level. If i remember right that was +72 dex/qui (90 with 25% spec buff bonus). Same thing for the AF buff and some other things.

EDIT: And also as of patch 1.62 (if implemented right) Rangers and Nightshades won't get the sidestun chain this time:
"- The Ice Storm -> Tempest -> Supernova chain has been modified for Blademasters only (i.e. Rangers and Nightshades are not affected by this). The damage for each has been increased, and Ice Storm now has a short stun component."

This is no whine, just saying selfbuffed ranger on 2.0 will be weaker than remembered from 1.0.

if pet dmg will be correctly implemented the dog will hit for 50 60 dmg and not for 10-20 like in uth 1.0 and if the hunter attack a target with his pet he should halved his chance of parry/evade and block with small shield i hope all this thing will be finaly fixed :D so hunter will be good :D

sorry for my bad english :D
