So what is the status of a midgard alliance around here? Are there any in the making? Whos gonna be part of it etc.?

Im just trying to figure out where we could see a fit. Im kinda leaning towards a Realmwide ally to provide another pool for people to group up with, join realm activitys such as relic raids, pve raids etc. But im not sure yet what we are gonna do... anything in the making?

+1 for /as between Midgard guilds. Should improve real wide communication and forward progress. Unfortunately cliques can keep us apart...

I agree that one huge alliance of all Mid guilds is the way to go. We had one during beta that was organized by The Pagan Inquistion.

we have been working with a large mid alliance in beta w many guilds 17+. Pagan had formed the alliance, but I expect that any of us can start one and simply invite all guilds.

In my book there is a difference between a *starter alliance* that we form asap, and an alliance you guys might need later.

A big, broad alliance is a help to everyone, with advice and help. It facilitates grouping, raids etc.
As time goes by and playstyles etc start being a serious issue, I think it is fine, if alliances branch out from this *first alliance* - interests, culture, languages, there could be many reasons for guilds to eventually want a more *narrow alliance*.

But let us get as many as we can in a Midgard alliance, I have already discussed this with RARE during the beta, and with other guilds too.

We have not yet been able to hit the roof...how many guilds can be in an alliance? If there is a ceiling over the alliance size, I do recommend that we use chatgroups between the alliances with guild officers/representatives, so that we can communicate easier, when needed, for instance in case of relic defence, relic raids, dragon raids and other events that would interest most of our realm.

Wishing you all Happy Holidays and

Looking forward to seeing you all again in game!

well, the fear of spies, should not keep us from making a large alliance. Anyways the alliance officers can decide to keep major decisions close till the last moment.

We can never totally avoid spies etc - and I believe that after like 3-6 months the alliances will have branched out into smaller alliances anyays.

And thats around teh time where most people are organized, templated etc and where it will really count.... so

No worries guys

Lets just have some fun!!

Hi Bloodwyne.

Correct. There is a limit of 20 guilds within 1 alliance, but maybe someone will form a guild that basicly accepts all levelers...

As for our part in PD, we would be up for joining an alliance like this, but as others states, then we might break up into smaller alliances once 4-6 month has passed.

Game developers curiosity here: why? - Wouldn't it always be in your best interest to keep communication as open as possible? Especially with features such as /ignore which means you can tune out certain individuals you might not be interested in seeing in the alliance chat.
Got any questions? Submit them to me and I will try to get them answered in our grab bag !

Because you can't force a community to work the way you want it to. All this faffing could be fixed with a simple global chat channel.

Hi Trishin.

Problem in a big PvE alliance is that the /as normally gets spammed and spammed and spammed by players looking for group, since there is no longer any global /lfg channel.

If i am not in the market for a leveling group, this will just be annoying. :|

And yes, you can /ignore people. But one person could one day be looking for a grp(not in my interest), and the other day provide informations that i find useful. Therefore if there were a /lfg channel for people looking for grp, then it would probably clear 90% of trash /as tells that will be there in a big alliance..
