In my expierience the "big guys" block nearly the same as the "small guys". At least I didn't saw that much of a difference.

well according to my calculations there is almost a whole 1% difference in block rate based off dex for each race.

I used arbitrary amounts just as an example and the dex numbers are based of capped stats for a level 50 unbuffed.

because maybe they hit the lurikeen hero :lol:

Anyway this:
HulkGris wrote:The famous ones seems correct, if Uthgard uses same as last source of DOL.
BlockChance = [5 + (ShieldSpec-1)*0.5 + (dex*2-100)/40 + MobBonus] * Quality
And for block only, multiple opponent penalty depending on number of attackers vs shield size.

For guard, GuardChance is
GuardChance = BlockChance * (GuardLevel * 3 + 0.05)
Size of shield doesn't matter.

Parry is same as block, penalty start at 3 attackers, and quality doesn't matter.
There was a time when Uthgard 1.0 existed and maaaany toons and arrpees arose... but now:

yes i just read Hulks post and it alters my figures by .5% for each race providing you use a 100% quality shield.

Not a big deal in my opinion.

Block rate will gain 2.5 points with a kobold dex, compared to troll.
On high block rate (70% -> 72.5%), it's 3% better.
On lower block rate, difference is sitll 2.5, so it's a bigger "relative gain". 50% to 52.5% means 5% better.

PS : according to formula of DOL, and Blue didn't confirmed it's the one used in Uthgard. But since he has confirmed it's the same for Evade...

Yes it might be 3% better between a Kobold and a Troll (i actually make it 1.5%) , however the subject was Thanes and you cant be a kobold thane.

The difference between the DOL formula and the live formula when using 100% shields is negligible, however as only DOL uses the quality in the calculation, having as close to MP shield as possible is important as each % drop from masterpiece loses you .34% block chance.

Therefore a Troll Thane will block 3.69% more often with a MP shield than with an 89% drop.

it is fixed years ago that shield quali DOES NOT influence block% anymore on Uthgard!

1% quali shield = 100% quali shield

I doubt that the DOL formula still applies on Uth since there has been a nerf on dex in the block formula due to the fact that melee classes complained about assist classes being able to block so much since they mostly have dex & d/q buff up.
(Same for the hunter class [when in melee] with selfbufff d/q & dex pots)

Ever since my healer rarely blocks in PvP, not to say almost never and in PvE just once every 8 hits orso versus a yellow/orange mob.
Before I blocked about 20% in PvE & 5 ish in PvP, not that I mourn it that much, since I rather don't have tanks on me at all xD.

Anyhow just want to say that dex doesn't do that much on block rate in uth settings, you're far better of getting Master of blocking then getting augmented dex.
