Hi guys, I'm nearing 50 on my dwarf skald and I wanted to ask here for some advice on getting templated, because I'm really getting hammered at the moment. I haven't used templating software in a long time, and I'm not exactly familiar with the common jewelry drops that I can get once I'm 50, so I was hoping that someone would be able to help me out. I saw some templates in the SC thread, but considering i'm dwarf and may have a different spec, I wanted to ask here.

My spec is 44 hammer, 46 battlesong, 17 parry. I'm a dwarf so I have 2 slash, 3 thrust, and 5 body resist already.

I've also asked around in game, but haven't found too much advice. Do skalds need only +hammer in their temp, or do they need +battlesongs as well? I've noticed not many temps have +battlesongs in them.

I'm currently sitting at 3p, as this is my first char, so I'm obviously not loaded hehe, but I'll farm to get enough for my template. I'm looking to find a temp that uses 99% qua pieces, easy enough jewelry drops (medina, that kind of mob), and gives the ability to switch out the weapon for some better drop from taj or whatnot if I ever get in there.

If anyone could help me out with starting a template i'd be most grateful! My char ingame is Gylfi if are you willing to talk and give some advice as well!

Start off with creating an outline for your template with basic items most templates use and what you want to use. Using items such as Solidified Silken Ring, Belt of the Water Strider, Bracer of Shattering and Tajendi 1 Cloak will get you a good start.

Now start adding potential items you may use like Ring of Pulverizing, DF Diamond Necklace, Necklace of the Body, Rigid Wight Claw, Band of Ice, or even the Gatekeeper bracers.

Hope this helps you get started! Can ask me ingame on Toque/Nirk for more help if youd like.

You could put battlesongs bonus on one hand weapon and shield.
This way you could have +11 battlesongs when switching to one hand

I don't believe your race/spec matters when it comes to templating, because whether you're a Troll or Dwarf or using hammer over axe all stat gear bonuses have a cap. By using a spellcrafting calculator you may enter your character's information and recieve the stat caps which you may benefit.

As for templating as a new player here's what I did. I was a big cheapo while leveling using grey-blue gear of what I could farm up (dungeon armors/weapons and DF seals) and saved up all my money for raising a craft to the 1,000 mark along with secondaries. By doing this you may salvage anything for profit. Afterwards I spent an entire week farming salvagables in DF emerald armor and level 20 through crapy 40 accessories. It was tough, even moreso with the gankage at Ellyll camps. Once you finish building a nice template (Imo a 50 template should be full masterpiece if you need or not) it's nice to go out with capped attributes vs. many others who do the same.

Also +skill to battlesongs barely helps. Normaly it's placed on 1h sword/shield to fill those up since you'll mostly be using 2h anyways.

http://uthgard-server.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2925&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45 13th post down is the nice Skald template. Just substitute the Dragonstorm with a MP 2h hammer missing only 1 body if I remember correctly.

Edit: Oh, also what I've done is made my own little database of accessories by browsing through Uthgard forums and the Albion Alliance forums and compiled my own database of Albion items. Midgard SC thread has many pages for you to record information to create your own database if you wish to build your own template.

@ Ceadius , if u mean my template, u should tell smallgreenguy thats not only the dragonstorm is rare in it. also the wormhide and wormskin, all mp chain and so on could be a prob if u can pay 3plats for all.

3p isnt enough to pay for alchyprocs and sc ont this armor......

+ battlesongs is a waste of time and money, it makes a difference of maybe +5 damage for your DDs...

getting a good SC for a skald will be a) a lot of work (farming etc) and pretty expensive... but if you dont need to go allcap you can leave stuff like: battlesongs, +power and maybe even quickness/charisma out for a while until you were able to do some raiding and get more money

my own skald SC cost me 25p just for the full mp set (crafted myself), alchi procs and the SCing... and still it isnt really allcap because i am missing +battlesongs and +power (two things i dont consider important for a skald)

No charisma = less damage with DD and less mana pool.

i devised a cheap 99% template for skald. it skips parry, battlesongs, power, some dex, and some spirit. it has cap hammer, all other stat, 196 hp, cap melee, and 21+ all but spirit. it is made with all 99% crafted and all drops are under 500g in price. i made this in like 5 minutes, it could probably be tightened up with a second look. this would be a really nice setup to run in thid and to have while you save up for some masterpiece armor. as a skald you will very likely want to get a polished masterpiece template in the long term. there are a half dozen or more high end skald templates posted in the sticky here.

and as a sidenote i must agree to caedius about the importance of salvage. train to 1002 tailor, then train to 1001 metalworking and you can make ridiculous cash buying 15 seal diamond axes and turning them into gem studded jewlery boxes. its normal to make several plats per hour like this in a good umbral hulk group.

In my post I tell him he should work on building a good template. He can go ahead and throw together a piece of crap for 3p lmao. I was just trying to help.

As for telling him what's rare he should find out easily enough rare/hard to get items. I even explain using MP hammer instead of Dragonstorm.

Many thanks for all the replies and help. I'm working on getting a cheap template together, and then I'll be going for a more fine tuned one. The only real question I have is about my 2 hand hammer.

Is it the best decision to go with the 2 handed exceptional great hammer (5.4) with the slowest speed, or is there for some reason a better choice when it comes to the speed of the weapon? I'm wondering this A) to figure out the best PC weapon possible, and B) because I'm sick of the great hammer graphic, and was wondering if it makes a difference whether you choose the great hammer, or spiked hammer (5.2 speed) , etc.

for skald no matter your race the optimal damage will be the slowest hammer possible. in midgard the slowest options are 5.4 crafted and 5.8 dragon drop. the dragon one can easily push 60p+ in the current midgard economy since there is not much active dragon raids happening. the old common raid leaders like ace and tyra have been inactive for some time. i have thought about starting my own weekly dragon raid. perhaps i'll get that going.

now that aste went and is going to try to fire up regular raids for midgard maybe the prices will drop again too...

a rather easy to get 2h hammer with 5,4 speed would also be cloudburst from harpy in taj2... has a d/q debuff on it, +6 hammer 17str 17quick 5% body

sure, dragonstorm is slower but with a skald you might not want SLOWEST possible because most of all, you're a rupter... sure, you could switch to 1h for rupting...

Btw. i am not really inactive and Fastfood had done several DragonRaids in the last few days.
So Dragon is becoming killed still often -.-
I only stopepd doing raids a bit because of 2 facts.
One the one hand it's sad if u need to look over 1 hour for supporters and on the other hand it sucks to raid damn mobs and waste a lot of time for making the midgard community stroner and if u are looking for a rvr grp nobody cares..
That's life isn't it? :D

Here's what ill be using until i can afford better. It's by no means perfect, but as a first template on this server its as cheap as i could make it without sacrificing to much :P Most of the stuff is from DF, a few medina drops and MP Hammer, gloves and boots.
