Obviously, I'm still not sure about my Albion realm pride. I really enjoy Albion but I'm quite certain that's because I've played it since release, and it's 'what I know' if you know what I mean.

Anyhow, I really enjoy playing the Friar on the Albion side. That and a healing cleric in group. What I like about the Friar is the self buffs, decent heals, capable of soloing, and the parties you get if people truly understand a friar. I wouldn't expect ANYONE to take me over a merc for DPS or over a cleric for heals, but I would expect them to take me to fill a slot for decent buffs, and nice resists etc.... What I like about the cleric is to keep people alive, that simple. Oh, the stun is fun too.

With that being side, is there anything here in Midgard that brings things like this to the table? Obviously the Healer will heal - but if I go heal spec I can't solo... /sadface.

Look forward to your replies - Ost

cave shaman is the only class in midgard that can heal a bit and deal a bit dmg and has good buffs. Maybe with 42 aug you also have a chance to find a group, but this will limit your cave to 33... i don't know if that is enough to kill anything solo.

Aug healers don't have much problem soloing PVE, but it is mind numbing work.

your only choices are Healer and Shaman and neither have styles, so nothing to really compare them to Friar/Bard.

Like they said, you can solo with an aug-healer but it's truly mind-numbing. You can take OJs easily and can read a book at the same time! :wall: You'll always be wanted in groups as midgard tends to be heavy melee.

A shaman can solo if he/she goes cave and "heal" but without spec it will be over over the place in healing. You can opt for the aug/mend shaman and get groups faster than you can Apple sells phones but you will gimp any soloing.

Your only other option and granted this isn't like a friar at all really, but you could go skald. You can solo like crazy and with chants, downtime is minimal. Groups all want you with DA for combat and healing chant after. Speed doesn't hurt either for solo camp grinding.

Just my 2-cents...

Oddly enought I completely agree with bick. Skald is really nothing like a friar, but I think what you enjoy about a friar is the same thing that skald offers you. Its a class that is very skilled solo and also has good groupability as well.

He talked about friar, so clearly he wants an awesome solochar that doesn't get into rvr groups ;) I'd suggest thane for great soloing(selfbuffs, good defence, decent damage)

Cave shaman for sure!

A bit dmg? That's an understatement.
With 41 cave you kick caster asses like hell. One decent crit dot+ bolt and ~~ 1000hp are gone. DoTs can now crit up to 100% base dmg- pump as much WP as you can and enjoy the show. If kite is your second lastname, you can kill everything. Ok whenever you meet a decent minstrel, good luck

33 aug for blue combos and yellow endu..

7 mend is enough for cure disease/poison and base heals.

No problem with money for buff barrels ect

But problem for most Fgs- noone will invite you (except zergevents and relic/keepdeffs) :P

Greetings,

Runen

For me it sounds like you just start here and wanna play solo?
If so I recommend a visible solo class which is welcome in RvR grps as well:

Skald
Warrior
Shaman

Where Shaman is the most friar like class and imo the best option for you. If you roll Skald or Warrior you will need a very expensive template in order to compete, while as a shaman you can outrun most enemies and dont need to face them in melee -> cheaper temp.
Go to Thid till RR4l2 then get RR6-7 in grps somehow and then you can start solo. No need to ruin your spare time while trying to solo as a 4l2 shaman.

Well as much as it sounds like I want to solo - this is partly true - it's only for leveling. I'm completely a "groupie" for RVR type person. And the more and more I think about it Shaman fits my boat the most. I'm not great at assisting(for melee) but I do understand how/when to interrupt casters and the importance of which ones need to be interrupted first. So, I think shaman is definitely for me :P Cave buff shaman, here I come.

Anyone tell me what stat increases Sham DOT DMG?

Piety - increases damage and power pool
Wild Power - RA to increase the chance of landing a critical with damaging magic
Mastery of Magery - RA to increase magic damage by a small percentage

DEX and AUG DEX - Decreases the casting time of spells so you fire more often, which can be more important than brute force.

If you follow the Runental path, use a Kobold for the enhanced DEX and kite everything in site.
