As the title says, I have a level 12 Zerker and currently he's using really terrible studded armor (green/grey con). NPC vendor gear is hella expensive- anywhere I can farm gear or find more affordable gear?

Nisse's has decent loot, but I don't know how much for a zerker. If you'd like some help starting, message anyone from <TYRANTS> and we'll hook you up. We have a lot of lowbie gear stashed away for alts, and we could spare some weapons/armor/coin for a returning player :D

You can search for the exact specific item and level range you want in the uthgard 2 bestiary: http://disorder.dk/daoc/bestiary/search.php
Uthgard 2.0 auto-bestiary Zones, maps, monsters, locations, items, drop rates and statistics.
DAoC game mechanics information templates, realm ranks, spell dmg type, melee speed, blocking, exp/group calculation

Normally dungeons offer best gear drops for leveling, humanoids often drop armor and weapons. Whe nyou hit lvl. 20 you can also try to level in front of svasud, the mobs there use to drop random items. Midgard also has many friendly and helpful players , if you ask in Jordheim for some low crafted items you often get them for free, same is valid for Hib and Albion ofc too. ;-)
Welcome and have fun in Midgard

You could do some quests that give useful equipment to you as reward, or search for OTDs.

The normal way is to join a craft, you can raise any craft to gear level 10 for between 1g and 5gold.
To get gold you have to do killing or crafting tasks.
You can also ask somebody for gold, people usually can spare 5gold.
