So basically i have been looking to come back to DAOC and this looks exactly what i want. But i have a couple of questions.

1. What expansions are live on this server? Si i imagine, toa is out with all its game ruining gayness but what should i expect?

2. how active are the communities? Are there actually people playing? regularly? small rvr or the huge zerg fest battles? i am not looking forward to another Vanguard population :(

3. How hard is leveling? (which is a segway questions to my final)

4. which class does the forum recommend?
A. Piercemaster
B. Shieldmaster
C. Thuerg
D. Ranger
E. Mintril

I used to play a piercemaster back in the day but i hear the RA system is different. I also loved my Ranger but i made him well after there prime.

Please someone help i am dangerously close to reopening my WAR account and that game is horrible.

1. classic + SI classes (no SI zones atm though, but will come some day when all classic content is implemented and working correctly)

2. very active and regular :) there is rvr but not sure what you mean by vanguard as ive never played it

3. not that hard, get grps as much as you can and its rather smooth

4. all classes are good choices and relatively easy to get gear for at 50

I'm not trying to be a party pooper here but the poulation is terribad if you are on the US time frames. I'm central standard time and I'll log in between 6-12 pm my time and I'll /who 50 and get like 6-14 people.

Last night at around 8 pm when I was debaing what class to grind painfully slow on in perma green to gray gear - I /who 50 hero and saw..1.

Off and on while playing with a friend - who only plays a few nights a week meaning I'll be solo for a long time hehe...I saw a few heroes in and out and a champ or two.

I came here to play a bard - it was my first 50 on Guin Hib back in 2002 - right after DF was first patched in. Man - those were the golden days. No mmorpg in my mind will ever be able to recreate what DAoC had between 2002 and 2004 (pre ToA and pre World of Gearcraft).

Anyway - I'm digressing here - but no way am I going to be able to solo a bard. Once last night someone /LFG Looking for dps levels 10-15 - at Muir Tomb - then I saw the group busted up within minutes after that due to lack of players.

Frustrating. I refuse to play Ywain - it's a god awful mess and Mythic never gave us Origins like a lot of us really felt they had promised at one point.

I see Midgard has DF consistently here - but my one friend wishes to play Hib. I will attempt to solo on both here and there inch by inch.

/salute I hope things work out for the OP - give it a shot. Lack of population for US players might be irrelevant if you make a few friends.

Apachee - a shar hero (pre ten!)
Bardaleng - part time bard (pre ten possibly forever lol)

I'm on pretty much every night around 8pm PST. I'm always willing to level with whomever.

You have room for a level 6 bard? lol

I have 35 level 50s in live daoc - across multiple realms and accounts. I templated about 10 of em (heh). To come here is painful I will admit but to get a chance to group is golden.

Bardaleng 6 bard
Apachee 7 hero

Maybe I'll see ya around hehe.

even the US hours population is getting better

atm we are seeing a min. of 200 players online at all times.. this doesn't mean there is a lot of players online but compared to the 50 players we used to see this is a huge improvement..

Level whatever you like and tell your friends to come here to

if you have a friend you like playing with a tank + bard duo can level from 1-50 rather quickly in the current setting

so all I can say is: tell your friends about this awesome server

there are a couple of custom nerf's which are a bit irritating, such as the raping of a wardens utility - and animist bomb damage/ the abs debuff, but all in all its a good server! XD

wardens utility? afaik celerity / shield spec came in patch 1.89 and should not be on uthgard.. so in what way are wardens customly nerfed?

I recently started a ranger(about 2 weeks ago), and hes close to level 40 already even though i mostly ran solo. Im not playing any of my usual toons regulary atm because of the session that started two weeks ago(what a coincidence^^).
RvR is quite addictive so if i log my regulars, ill waste a whole day playing instead of learning, but xp is quite easy to start and stop, especially if youre solo.

Its easy to xp, and quite easy to get gold on hib. When my ranger hit lvl 10, i had more gold than on my friar who is lvl 16, so quit complaining about bad equipment.

Wardens got shield spec in 1.82 and celerity in 1.97.

Thornweed field doesn't work correctly. Wardens are customly nerfed because 1.80 is a "custom" patch limit set by the server owners.

At the thread starter: any class in your list is okay except for the theurgist which is the third most bugged/limited class on uthgard after necromancer (which isn't implemented at all) and animist (which has only 1 spec line implemented).

if having a patch limit is being custom .. wow.. so many classes are custom nerfed then xD

there is a reason why it is called a classic server and the patch limit IS indeed why it still is a classic server .. so saying the limit makes the classic server custom.. is quite untrue when we infact try to emulate the state the game was in at that time..

so no.. wardens aren't customly nerfed.. they are classic.. learn to live with it ;)

Today, this question is not exactly correct, but try to answer it, as if today was after 1st February 2010.
Is there any live server with patchlimit <1.100??

Or, are there any live servers without Vampiires, Valkyries, Warlocks, Banshees, Heretics?

Now think about it and stop doing stupid comments on uthgard patchlimit.

Exactly. Uthgard itself is a custom server.

Darkness rising patch limit, only classic + housing zones, SI classes, OF rvr areas, NF battlegrounds, ToA realm abilities...

Not custom at all :P
