Hi all,
I haven't played DAoC in quite a while. I think I quit soon after SI came out, but it's been so long that I can't remember. Either way, I'm excited to get back into this game, I have a feeling it'll keep me occupied for quite a while. My main problem is that I don't remember a whole lot of detail about the game's classes so I'm struggling a little to figure out what to play. My first instinct in any MMO where bards are a class is to play one of those, but again I'm pretty behind in their capabilities. I generally enjoy playing support classes, and I do remember being drawn to wanting a high level ranger but I don't think I ever leveled one. Can anyone give some good tips on what I should consider when rolling a class? Just pretend I'm new and have no idea what I'm doing--that's probably accurate to how I feel right about now ![]() Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward to seeing Hibernians again |

I'd suggest making a character that is capable of both raiding and RvR as your first toon.
Support: Bard, Druid Tank: Hero, Blademaster The above are good classes for you to start with on Hibernia. Even if they are not particularly fun, they are always in high-demand as far as PvE and RvR goes and will be nice to have to support your future alts. Roll anything else as your first character and you'll find yourself being excluded out of a lot of things as other classes may not mesh well or are undesired in certain aspects of the game, thus making your journey to the end game a more painful experience than it needs t o be. If you happened to make a Stealther, such as a ranger, as your first character. Then you will only be able to do stealther-oriented things. Nobody is going to invite you to raid or visible RvR while on that class. "It's not fair unless I'm winning!" |

It strongly depends on what Kind of type is your favourite, you say you prefer supporters,- Druid is often wanted in pvm and RvR main part is healing and buffing.
Bard is more difficult to Play in rvr, you ´ve to Play Songs, rupt enemy supps with your instas, mesmerize them, and avoid to get slain by enemy tanks,. In pvm your part is similar to druid, healing, buffing and Play songs, could be a bit boring sometimes ^^. 3r Support class is warden, it ´s a mix between tank and healer ,- hybrid class. Main part is tanking. Ranger is nice for solo rvr (stealther) but not a good pick as first char in my opinion. If you like healing I recommend druid but it ´s a Group char not so good to Play solo, so when you don ´t find grps log a second twink that can solo,- maybe a valewalker (tank hybrid-lifeleech nuke and scythe as weapon . Valewalker wears Cloth armor,-Cloth is not so expensive and valewalker deals good damage). For further question you can ask in game too, in starter guild for example, most people are nice at uthgard ![]() regards Megrim |

Megrim and Nayeh both said pretty much what I would say. Bard/Druid or Hero/BM are great classes that will allow you a raid class as well as the ability to go out with a RvR group. All 4 of the above classes are fairly easy to lvl, easy to template, and allow you alot of options for both raiding and RvR.
Once you make one of the above classes then you can make a solo toon like a ranger/NS or even a visi solo toon like a VW'r or a Champion. Since you will have a raid toon you will be able to take the raid class to farm template items that you will need for succes on your solo toons. I know rangers get pushed alot because of their high utility, but NS's are also very good classes in RvR and should not be overlooked. Visi solo RvR toons (VW/Champion for example) work well too, however you will have the problem of getting rolled by bigger visi groups and stealthers ganging up on you. Because of that you will need alot of patience when playing these toons. |
