Hey

I used to play both on uthgard and i enjoyed it a lot. I won't have tons of time to roll many chars in the future so i would like to know what will be the best choice between NS and ranger regarding 1.65 and old ra system. Please try to explain your choice. Thx.

Nightshades are the best assassins at high RR with old RAs while rangers get eaten alive by any see hidden assassin.

You can avoid any PA easily, Rangers eat Assasins.
Only problem is that you do not see if it's one or more. Straight 1vs1 Ranger is still one of the best chars.

The duel between Ranger and Assassin was always about your survivability as Assassin. In general you’d beat the Ranger if you live long enough. Here the lack of NF-toughness and purge 3 will hurt Assassins a lot (every bow class has an anytimer stun).

But the most important factor is the detection range. If you are able to critshot the assasin before he hits you, you should win with ease. However, it’s still unclear how it really works. But as Celteen said, you won’t be able to control your incs anymore.

Nonetheless the whole stealthwar seems not appealing to me with Old-RA’s. All the tools with low cooldown like Purge, FA, remedy and the rr5’s were the abilites that made it so interesting. Those were no i-win buttons but timed well you’d have a high potential, timed bad you’d have just wasted these Abilities. Now we will get stupid i-win buttons and i-win stuns.

Less skill, more timers, bigger random generator impact!

I got a NS on Origins. It's not like you can compare it to Uthgard 1:1 but yeah it's boring.
Stealth Wars is not as entertaining with old RA.

You can run through side stun on Ranger, run through back stun on Hunter, and Slam on Scout. 8)
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> You have to be a c*** to be awesome at daoc

The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

Once you perfect how to run through/strafe you can pretty much consider them any timers. :P

run through + mouse look = win

people who dont use it, especially stealthers, make me lul. this is exactly how you make your positionals become anytimes.

this next example is by no means bragging, just illustrating my point...

if you properly time your run throughs + mouse look you can get around any shield at nearly anytime. you can also time this defensively so your enemy misses their styles. i would duel people on my avalonian cleric (no styles and ****** dmg table) and kill shield tanks that would try to /face or /stick me the whole fight.

Id unstyle them to death, most dmg coming from dd proc on my weapon, and win simply because they dont know how to manuever. i estimate that nearly half the population of this game, if not more, dont know how to run through or mouse turn, and at this stage of the game, that astounds me.

people will always get butt hurt when you run through, but its the only way to compete seriously on any melee.

I am looking forward to your 1337 kill spam, you are kinda unbeatable and I am sure you got some decently ranked chars on live as well!!!
