Just want to clarify. It is my understanding that VW is not a class I should roll if I am interested in doing 8v8. Is this correct?

Looks like a lot of fun, but my main goal is doing organized RvR.

Thanks much!

RvR : good class.
8v8 : not the best one, so you will invited in PuG only, or random group that will fail in 8v8 and split after 2 runs of 5 minutes ended in an insta kill by the first no brain easy group of savazerk

We're running a VW. People seem to think because something doesn't have DET it can't be done yea?

can work, just more of an "outside the meta" pick so it takes a good player and a competent group
Hib - Falken (BM) / Sneakster (NS) / Kalfen (Enchanter) - Currently Inactive

Alb - Djfalken (Minstrel) - Inactive

Mid - Tooeasynothanks

Imo Hulkgirl is right,

First group with brain will just NS + Root your VW a he will be useless during 1min.
But ofc versus low/medium skill group it can works

The issue is not only the lack of determination, VW have - correct me if I am wrong - a comparatively low weapon skill as hybrids, which means with their 2h weapon they will be easy to guard. So either you get cc'd to hell or you are going to mostly hit into the enemies guard. As with everything, sure you can play a vw in 8vs8, but not in a competitive setting where any minor disadvantage can mean defeat. I am not a fan of super over-engineering a group setup, but there are some obvious weak links that can be avoided, no-det low-weaponskill hbyrids being an obvious one.

Imo vw is going to be fine if your group can keep pressure, win first CC... etc
You dont wanna let a VW finish his sidecombo on any low-hp class. Its insane spikedmg. Only possible if your pbaoe isnt breakint CC on many enemies standing in range, ofc :)
Against tankmids you try to stay in backline and get the overextended zerkers or whatever is going to push through.
I played enough VW to say... this dmg can get you first kill/s.
Enemy guardbot sure will be a big problem. In that case i´d try to freelance against nonguarded enemies or nuke/rupt free caster/supps. If there is some nice targetcall by bm/heros i´ll jump on fullassist, goodluck keeping this target alive without RA/ sick ae mezz.
