Dot : Weird damage variance

Hello,
I started a fresh, brand new mentalist, full mana spec'd. He's lvl 10 actually but it feels weird with the dots .. Read it twice, I'm FULL mana spec'd, I also have a small SC for stats + skill bonuses so I cap everything except resists. Even with all that stuff and the full spec, the baseline dot does weird variance, down to 50% of the spec dot damage ! Is it the same when you're lvl 20-30 or more or it's fixed ? |

Baseline DoT is on Mentalism line, so you need to spec Mentalism to increase dmg of Baseline Dots.

Oh .. huhu ..
But .. isn't that a little .. no .. isn't that totally stupid ? Baseline dot in a different spec .. this is .. this is so weird, too. Edit : How much do you think I have to put in mentalism ( while lvling ) to keep good damage with the baseline dot ? 20% ? More ? |

I would propose to full spec Mana Magic. Spec dot deals much more dmg then baseline dot. When you reached lvl 40 you can spec Mentalism as second tier. I dont think its worth doing so before.

I always had mana 1 pt below my level to spec mentalism every few levels. Doesn't really matter much but it was usefull for that low lvl mezz and a lil less variance on your heal.

well if you are full mana specced (which is the correct choice for pve) you will have a high variance with the mentalism baseline dot (like massivmampfer pointed out). remember 1 mentalism at lvl 5 may just be 4 level difference - but it is also only 20% spec. its normal that you got a huge variance with only 20% points specced into the line you use. might want to keep mana 1 level below your current level to push mentalsim if that is a problem for you.otherwise you would have to wait for lvl 40.5 to lower the variance. |
