Bomb towers like that don't work anymore, especially not on low rr. You are essentially depending on the enemies running into you and waiting to get killed, all the while the enemy support stands there doing noting, instead of throwing interupts at you. Yes, you can bomb, sometimes, but it is really not a good idea to build an entire setup around that. Ench, Eld, Eld/Menta is what I'd try - either have the chanter debuff cold for two light elds and pbae incomming tanks, or heat - if you want a mentalist. Then you could have a mana eld, but would miss out on red NS (which is very powerful on Uthgard) and only have one spec nuker. And in any case, with all the high RR tank groups on Uthgard, you are in for a long and frustrating road towards building up some RR.

I've never said my setup so how can you say that is wrong?

In my setup there is a menta like you say, only 2 casters will go to pbaoe and 2 casters stay behind to interrupt, debuff, ns, disease, and doing aoe/dot dps. I don't know if this party will work, but you all don't know too, you can make assumption but stop say "I'M PRO I KNOW THE TRUE AND YOU ALL DIE SOON, MAKE TANK SETUP AND PUSH "WIN BUTTON" WITH US!!" 'cause it's sad.

I think you should be more "open minded", and I'm not saying that my party will rock by sure, of course we'll rel a lot at the beginning but I hope to enjoy myself playing a class that I love and I've played so many years, and my teammates too.

It's not a matter of 'open-mindedness' - we are trying to let you know how RvR on Uthgard plays out and give you the benefit of our experience. Keep in mind that while Uthgard tries to emulate live servers, there are difference on several levels, including some game mechanics etc. I personally would find that helpful to know, seeing that a) it takes so long to get to 50 and b) that other groups have tried and failed with such setups. Maybe it will be different for you guys, but at least now you know what awaits you ;) What you do with that information is entirely up to you of course, no reason to take it as 'hostility' or 'negativity''.

Yes I appreciate your info and seriously I'm not hostile or negative with you, other people write "enjoy dying", "this will not work" and maybe it will be but it's not sure so why don't try?
In vortigern all people said the same things to us but we tried it and it has worked good, and there was only our caster setup in all hib, so we'll try again.

I appreciate your info and let me know what you think about this setup:

Eld mana (me): at the beginning of inc stay far, snare aoe and disease to tanks while enchanters pbaoe, debuff and NS (35% if 50 mana 20 light or 45% if 48 mana 24 light) to enemy healers and casters, assist to ench heat debuff with dd heat baseline, interrupt.

Menta mana: pom to all party ensured, at the beginning of inc stay far, dot aoe on tanks while enchanters pbaoe, help healers, assist to ench with single dot and dd, interrupt, launch Static Tempest (I've heard it's bugged, so we'll try it in bg before).

2 ench (or ench/eld): pbaoe, debuff heat and call assist, send 2 pet to interrupt, Bedazzling Aura.

2 Druids: healings, 1 of them with 40 buff (here no buffbot allowed).

1 Bard: you know why.

1 Jolly: warden for pbt, healing, resistences, ress, it's the first choice. But can be also an other druid, a hero for protect (but he should protect 4 casters..), a menta light for assist ench or a eld light for assist ench and NS 65% (but in this way we take too much damage probably..), or something else.

The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

@Rivaldus: I'm 100% with your idea! Try it.

It is true, Uthgard will not be the easiest target for Castergrps.
It is true, you WILL lose vs High RR, but everyone does.
But it's also true that you will have fun (especially in the BGs!) cause you play what you like.
Plus: The tactic/setup you mentioned isn't that bad.
Dotted bombed tanks recieve hard dmg (and who needs CC on Tanks anyway)
IF the healers are rupted there will be only DI between you and instakill.

I hope you will have a great time here with this setup, tell us your achievments in BG!!

Really thx ;) Here I see many people who think to know everything, and they are sarcastic, and I hope they'll have fun with their setup (all the same).

Cya soon

The damage is lower than a spec dd and it makes the target un-ccable for the duration of the dot - so you are trading burst damage for low damage and any hope of getting the target CC't. And you can't even go for the biggest dot, because otherwise you won't be able to spec demezz. So what you will end up is a complete ****** with un-rootable, un-mezzable tanks that only have to split on your 2 main casters to completely disable your setup.

hey cya, i am a ex "vorty" player like u, mid side.
what ppl try explain u is that:

"... u must forget all u learn (or close all) from live on Utghad ..."

in italiano

"dimentica tutto ^_^"

this is not live, and there are A LOT OF THINGS not working as intended.

i give u some exemple

on Vorty, focus patch 1.60 on the days u talking about, there was guild dominating server with offensive savage tank setup, even if no charge (if i remember well). Here no savage running, they basically don't work like they should (for a lot of reasons, WS skill is broken, don't work and mean nothing, h2h damage is considered not dual wield, so, for a bug on shield block rate, u will be blocked 80% of swings , repeat, 80% of swings, not joking ^_^ and A LOT OF OTHER STUFFS)

this server is dominated from charge tanks, magic damage is not considered for other issues .
Exemple resists rates are too high, u must play with new ra's ( see new charge ) w/out any new system to counter it (no bodyguard, no overcap hp's etc).
There is no magic penetration etc etc
this server is ALL A MIX of new/old things, and things not working like it should

u'll find skalds dealing more damage than a hero/armsman
spiritmaster intercept 90% of swings with pets
paladins on guard on casters that block basically all if u attack with a 2handed tanks no dual wielder (see Vw)
etc etc

u'll NOT FIND PUGS, or, really not many
this is, maybe, the wrost thing on my opinion.
on emain (main rvr spot, like on Italy) u'll find only elite guild grp's, high ranks, all suited on the Utghard gamestyle
dumping highend ra's on your rr4l2 team (fresh meat from thid)

so gain rp's is a pain if u don't have a perfect suited Uthgard 8v8 setup

+ a lot of other things u'll learn playing here not "working as intended"

conclusion:

is FUN and worth it?
yes, is fun and worth play here for have a decent old daoc experience, but u must understand how Urghard work, and, believe me, have not mutch to spare with the real daoc.

if u take a grp that here perform well and put they on real classic daoc old style, i think they will get wiped instant for any good/decent setup (exemple: here no arms/mincers/wizard alb side, no Vw's/Menta/Chanters hib side etc).

So live with it and accept what more experience Uthgard player say u (repeat, UTHGARD players, not DAOC players ^_^).
Try different combination, but never forget that this is a charge tanks owning server.

that's all ^_^

sorry for my english ;)
