Interesting to see someone that's signed up in the last month explaining the server aim to someone that's been signed up since 2011 :p

More on topic:

I prefer tank groups myself for pve, they CAN be more efficient exp wise and they're not as boring. Playing in a caster group in rvr here has really hit home how difficult it is with the low pow/abundant resist rates/this patch level, though it's still early days as everyone's low RR, it just seems like playing melee will actually be a lot easier and we're definitely going to try out some tank setups once i50 hits. I think a few people might learn some lessons from this beta also and I think we'll be seeing a lot more tanks.

If that's all you got out of it, you read it wrong.

Ah gotcha

I wasn''t attempting to lecture anyone, just express what I think the server is based off of from what I have read. I could absolutely be wrong but maybe I didn't write it well enough.

This isn't actually my original login either. I lost that one somewhere :(

I understand what you're saying Bubbler but i'll still have to disagree. The whole argument of "if you don't like it go play live" is pretty ridiculous. I've seen it splattered all over these forums and every time I see I just curl up. There are plenty of reasons to stay here and the *slow* xp won't get rid of me.

I understand the server goal, but I want to RvR. Not watch my character sit and swing for a few months.

I get that, it just seems like some folks in your position, want different things rather than DAoC v1.65. They want custom this and custom that to make things easier and my whole point is that if your not on board for v1.65, then there are other options for you.

There are no other options for folks who like the v1.65 version. Even Genesis is an amalgamation of different versions. They are more aimed towards that RvR only crowd, as they say on their "The Vision" section of the webpage.

To try and make changes to this server just cause you want something "easier" is imo very dis-ingenious. There is already multiple options for the crowd that only wants that, why you need to come here and try and push that same crap when you already have other options is the issue.

We can agree to disagree, but that's the crux of the issue in my mind.

If it's taking you a few months to hit 50, then something is seriously wrong.

Just to reiterate; it's not about making things easier at all. It's not about making things easier. Not easier, not not not. Just getting my point across. It's also not about wanting custom this custom that. It's about YOU learning that Daoc is, was and always has been easier on certain classes with certain specs.

let me use your logic against you:
If you don't like it then go play WOW where you can use the dungeon finder >>>

Totally irrelevent, since 2011 server is not in the same state as 2016 server :)

and as stated
was and always has been easier on certain classes with certain specs.

Hrm, I was under the impression the server aim patch-level was/has been ~1.65 for years, even on Uth1...and still is now on Uth2. My mistake if not.

The BEST option is to join or form a guild that is built on friendship with those who share similar ideals, an RvR guild perhaps. But because it's only beta people are less interested in rvr atm and the only ones willing to trudge through to 50 are the ones who have the option to focus pull. This could change during live, where people will be thinking more long term and what kind of people they are to be grouped with in rvr/8v8.

If i do decide to choose hib, I'd likely play a warden and i'd much prefer to guild/team up with meleers and level up slower with great 8v8 potential, than level up faster with focus pullers. But right now in beta, I don't see the point.

v1.0 : NF RA without ToA = Custom and nobody can't even think about saying "we were aiming for 1.65 patch level" with this kind of custom
v2.0 : 1.65 a bit customized (map, autoloot, bgs, etc.)

I didn't say anything about custom changes, only that the patch level/aim was/is 1.65.

Quick search shows this in 2010...obviously there's many more by multiple gms etc as well, we've all seen them say it over the years.

Uthgards minimum patch level is 1.65 and maximum patch level is 1.80.

Again, the aim was/is 1.65 and has been for a while.
