I would go with.

blade 36
CD 39
PF 42
stealth 35

Because the CD styles are better and since style performance is based on your spec in that line, it will ensure that your use of all CD styles are better. With 36 CD and 39 blade, you will have to use blade styles, which means when and if you use ice storm or evade styles in CD, they will not be as strong as if you had 39 cd spec. The only reason to go to 39 blades is for spectrum blade, which has a haste debuff on it, but as i have tested, the bonus on it is incorrect on uthgard and is like 7% or so. While it should be like 34%, according to sources i have found. So i see no reason to prefer 39 blade over 39 cd.

Why not a NS, why not another class. Its because someone chooses that classes play style. They may choose a melee ranger over a BM or NS because of a buffline, even if the BM has a higher table and NS has a poison line to counter. BM may get into a group easier then both Ranger and Nightshade, while the other two may have a safer time soloing in OF. One may also choose a class because of RA selection over another. For what ever reason, each class is its own, even if two have similar specs, they do not play the same way.

Yes so mad, grrrr so angry grrrr. Or just explaining why one would choose one class with a similar spec that another could have. Wether they choose the ranger for the possibility of having stealth, RA selection, or what ever. This is the choice they want. One could be told to play a ranger or NS, if they wanted to play a BM solo. The argument would be, you need stealth to solo so you don't get killed by passing groups. But they may want to play a BM, for its play style over other classes.

But yes my main is a ranger, and i try to support them as much as possible, so its best to assume im very angry and screaming at those who say to go with another class. GRRRRRRRRRRRR! :P , nope just kidding. I get plenty of comments based on the fact i play and support Rangers.

First of all, I'd like to apologize for bringing this old discussion back, but I didnt want to create a new one for one topic that for sure has been discussed before.....
I want to play a SNIPER ranger... I have no idea which the final spec would be (I would love some advices here), and I have not idea in how to xp by using this ranger.... I mean how to spend my skills points, I was told that I should do it by putting everything in PF and Then stealth and the rest in CD

Anyway a final spec would be

48 PF
45 Bow
36 Stealth
18 CD

I would like to hear some opinions here....

Thanks in advance guys

You may think I'm nuts for telling you this Kurt, but I have given several people the following spec for a "sniper" spec ranger and every sinlge one has loved it. Most say its not "sniper" because it only has 35 bow, but it has been shown countless times on here that going above 35 bow does nothing besides give you access to a higher volley and/or rapid fire. Damage wise you are much better off increasing path rather then bow. Here is the spec I offered assuming a ranger is RR5.

Stealth: 35
Bow: 35
Pathfinding: 48
Pierce: 25
CD: 22

By doing this you will have very nasty dmg w/ bow, still have volley and rapid fire 1, and on top of that you will have the evade style in pierce and the side stun style in cd so if a person gets to you then you wont be left w/ no damage in mele. The stuns also give you a chance to maybe run away and begin using bow. You could also lower CD down to 18 to keep the side stun and raise pierce up to make your mele dmg a bit more consistant.

I have found going above 35 bow as a "sniper" is not very efficient at all compared to getting the high end dmg add at 46 path and the high end d/q buff at 48 path.

If I was you, I would be full auto train and not go with that spec till your over lvl 48 and have all your auto train points. Put all your points into Path, Pierce, CD, and stealth, then at lvl 48 respec and use the spec above. Leveling is very easy even with auto train bow. The BG's might be a little tough w/out bow, but I'm sure you will still manage just fine. If you ever have more questions feel free to send me a pm in game.

I ATed bow til 48, and at 48, I put the points in this specline.
The result: between 12 and 34 in bow (atm), no difference in dmg, or maybe more or less 10%.
The only difference is that I can throw an arrow with CS in 4sec instead of 6.

So I will not put more than 35 in bow, that's for sure ^^
