Hi im new to this server and new to DAOC period. I have gotten a couple toons to 20 and didnt like them or realized I gimped by not autotraining. I really liked my ranger but gimped him. So I have made a new lurikeen ranger and put my starting points 10 into str, 10 into con and 10 into dexterity. Does this sound ok?

My next question is I hear on this server that ranged damage sucks. Is this true? Im pretty much set on just building a pierce ranger at this point, seeing how i will need to be melee till 48 to autotrain properly anyhow. Im having trouble finding information on builds that will be relevant on this server and I really dont wanna have to reroll again.

Which brings me to my last question. Can anybody give me some good builds for a melee pierce ranger? Also if anybody would like to add some hybrid or ranged builds that work well on this server I would also appreciate that. Thank you for your time.

first of all awesome to see you havent given up even though it is all new - I know a lot of friends who gave up quit because this game is hard to learn (compared to games like wow)

if you autotrain bow to 48 you should put 77 points in the extra point fields and put bow to 12 before you start fooling around with specs

usually same specs but with lower CD / PF

Awesome info, tyvm. Now if I may ask what would be the difference in the high pierce or high CD build? Also which of the specs that you have listed do you feel the most powerfull for solo rvr with the current server rules.

as you can see im a nightshade so my choice might not be the best - but what i would find most fun (as im playing NS the bow specs isnt really what i like about a ranger )

but i would go

pierce melee
PF 36
stealth 35
bow 12
CD 36
pierce 44

and the difference in pierce / CD specs are which styles you use

in the pierce spec you use piercing styles, in CD spec you use CD styles

actually CD spec might give better dmg - however I LOVE the piercing styles so :p

but any melee spec will work wonders - however dont neglet bow totally its stile a nice opener on ie. mercs/zerkers/savages etc

Cool, thanks again Nixian. Ill take a look at the different styles in those 2 and see what I like best. I originally wanted a sniper when I made my first ranger but after learning a bit on this server melee seems a better choice and just using bow strictly in situations were its an advantage to.
