Hello Uthgard players!

I am new here and i present myself to you as n8 (although my username suggests otherwise). I have played DAOC in its golden age (pun intended) up to Catacombs. Trials of Atlantis kind of killed it for me but the new Frontiers were the final nails on the coffin.

That said; I am looking to start anew on this free shard and I had quite a few questions in regards to leveling, guilding and eng game RvR;

- Is leveling easy on this server? My last leveling experience was getting powerleveled to 50 in a ice wizard group mass pull group. I only remember the no-questing/mob spawn farming leveling type and i'm interested to do anything to get to the end game. I' do not wish to be powerleveled nor begging for help; i'd simply like to know what's my best options here.

- What class should I pick? Does Hibernia needs tanks, healers, bards, rangers? I am willing to play anything that can help in RvR except for Nightshade or Valewalkers. Vampiirs and Maulers are completely new to me; so i don't know what I would be doing.
I used to play a Paladin, a Friar, a Druid and a Skald back then.

- Guilds; are the people here elite or minded towards helping each other? I want to know what i should be expecting from the guilds here and what my goals should be. I am someone that likes to have fun and i dont intend to play the game that much. That said i'm a big competitor in RvR (I was R8L7 with my Druid) and am looking for a mix of talent/family spirit.

----

All in all i'm a very simply guy looking to have fun on your server! Looking forward to play with you :D
Cheers and thanks in advance for your answers!

Welcome n8.

I can help answer your first and second question as I'm new to Hibernia on Uthgard.

1. Leveling is nearly identical to classic with the exception of Darkness Falls exp bonus (25% afaik) and frontier exp bonus depending on the number of keeps your realm has (not sure the tiers of %). There is no power leveling. You're pretty committed to your character, the same as old school DAoC.

3. Everyone I've encountered on Uthgard is very friendly. I have not really encountered many elitists, but I've not yet gotten to end game RvR here. Something to add is that this is an EU server and its prime time is also EU. NA prime time population numbers are lacking in comparison, but everyone you encounter will be friendly and helpful.

Enjoy your stay!

Hello, I can also help you out a bit on your questions as I have been on this server for almost 2 years now and only play on Hibernia.

1. Leveling is a chore on this server but only because there is a cap put on so that if you are leveling with sombody to high in the group your xp will suffer. The days of powerleveling and getting a toon from 1-50 in a day or 2 are not here. I would say the average time to take a toon from 1-50 is about equivalent to what it was on classic days pre-SI.

2. Classes- Pick whatever you want to play. Don listen to people on here telling you what you should and should not do. The usual way of doing things is picking a group char like druid/bard/BM/Hero and make that your first 50 and a LGM tailor so you can then use that toon to farm for money for your true pride and joy toon. There is alot of rangers in Hibernia at the moment since they are pretty high up on the stealther food chain on this server. There is no classes after ToA on this server, so the Vampiir/Mauler or any of the other classes are not available. Make the toon you want to play, get it to LGM tailor for salvaaging and trinking, lvl and play it how you want. I would advice getting some advice on spec's on this server because if you plan on doing group frontier RvR you will find that people know what they want in a class and if you cant provide that it will be a short life for you.

3. As far as the elitist attitude is concerned it is most definately alive on this server, but not as bad as it was on live when I played. People are always willing to give new players a chance in end game RvR, but they wont have alot of patience with the whole learning process with you. People in Hib are very nice and helpful with your toons until you get out to lvl 50 frontier RvR. At that point people really expect you to know your toon by then. Some groups are more laid back then others, but I have found that the more a$$holes a group has equates to better success for the most part. It's sad but true.

Thank you both for the information! I'm trying to hook up a few friends of mine to play the game. That said I doubt i'll have the schedule that'll allow me to spend as much time on this toon as I used to be but i'll try my best.

Cheers and see you online!

Hello Terrstin!

Welcome to this amazing server! I've been here (well mostly as a forum lurker) for 2 days and i can already feel the good vibes from its population!

Enjoy yourself in Albion and good luck to you as well. Hopefully we will meet on the battlefield to fight for eternal glory!

I rolled a Celt Hero (shield+blade specced) named Raviell BTW :)

Scratch that! I went for 42 shield 39 blade 50 CD 6 parry Blademaster!

Almost lvl 7 and already I have met several nice people online! Looking forward to group even more... damn you Uthgard for rekindling my love for this game.

Disclaimer: I am playing a positional combat class and am not used to that (ex heal friar / nurt druid / ice wiz). Also haven't played since 2005-2006ish so yep... coming back to me slowly.

Cheers! See you online :)
