Not anytime soon so no point basing whatever you're doing on Old RAs.

Eldritch:
Useful in PvE (pbae) and PVP (nearsight, disease, snare, dmg)
Enchanter:
Useful in PvE (pbae), potentially useful in PVP, but seldom invited due to several factors (requires strong team play, most enemies are charging high rr tank groups etc)
Mentalist:
Useful in PvE (POM, HOT, heals, dots), only useful in PVP when combined with a mana chanter (which there are essentially none of)

So eldritch is the way to go, if you want to do RvR in groups. Otherwise, pick what you like ^^

Was first going to say that if you don't have a basic knowlege about prekiting, keyboard turn and don't have a good sense of positional awareness don't bother playing caster at all.

Now an Enchanter is really not worth playing in RvR and if you like the idea of a DPS hib caster you should take a look at the Animist. With the changes to bomber damage they are now a very viable member of a hib group, You get the Enchanter's DPS with more utility (rupt shrooms, ae bomber damage for pet clear without boxing, tanglers and single root; which when coupled with the eldritch's utility can mean a very effective caster duo, a lot more so than the previous Eld/Ench hybrid group.

(no debuff for the eldritch this is true, but damage with both assisting is more than enough to drop targets - especially at higher RR)

Not many hib groups are running eld/animist's at the moment, could well be for co-ordination purposes and playstyle, but if you want to be able to RvR, have an easy time in PVE and be useful for raiding at lvl 50 i would choose an Ani over an Ench any day of the week.
