my question is.. Why is Powerleveling not working here? I know that many people (friends included) would play here if there were a easier way to level here.. but the you got here when the level range in the grp is higher than 5 levels is just ... no words.

Hope i can get an answer from the GMs cause i thought you could PL people on live servers

Why don't your friends just start here together? It's easy to play at a few levels difference, "powerleveling" low chars using lvl50 chars may not be as effective as on live, but really, whats the point of it? Its even more boring.
“DAOC is not about what you can log. It's about what you can play :> ”

Uthgard 1.0: <Die Lettanten> Ivia - 8L8 Nightshade - Lone Enforcer since 8L1.
Uthgard 2.0: <Illuminated Stormriders> Oxy - Hero; Ivia - Nightshade.

Not possible to powerlevel here, but you can help some ways...

1) Mana ment can powerlevel a char to roughly lvl 25 fairly fast, the first 20 come flying at an amazing speed.
2) Grab your druid, and then have your friend find 2-3 other friends and help keep them buffed, you can even place lvl 45 tinders.
3) Depending on class, keep him stocked with endo pots and power pots.

But really, the best and fastest way to level here, is with people at your own level, and possibly with a druid/menta buffing you.

Because it hurts the community as a whole, if a new player starts here he's left alone, while all of us more seasoned players would just PL eachother.

I feel your sentiment Danaeh, but I actually like it the way it is on this server. On live I remember people going from lvl 1-50 in a matter of a few days by pl'ing. Here you dont have that. If you want to make a toon and get him to 50 and 4L2 then you will have to put in an investment of time and learn to play your toon. PL'ing was fine on live when you had to pay monthly fees. By PL'ing you could circumvent the xp grind and get to the good stuff. Here the server is free, so if it takes a very casual player a year to make a 50 its no big deal. I agree w/ Zai 110% that PL'ing would hurt the community. As it stands now you almost NEED to make friends to level with to level quickly and that just promotes a stronger community.

I have to admit some of the rules such as "non-buffboting" or "dual logging" and many others, helps this server to keep a balanced and fair comunity in all terms, PvE and RvR. But I totally disagree about PLing system.

However, this server is still up and working great, and I find the bonus %+ exp u get by killing ppl from other realms a good way to force everyone to RvR b4 reaching lvl 50 and being total noobish with their chars (doesn't make much sense in a game that has been out for more than 10 years tho).

We'll find other ways to help our guildies to catch up faster. So many years playing DAoC to stop in every BG, we want real RvR asap.

Sincerely,
Reincidente <OMG so GOOD>

Make that 10, because my 5 friends said the same thing. After coming back and going through the entire leveling process again, i can't say that I blame them.

The only reason I have seen to support the 'no powerleveling' rule, is to keep it fair for new players. Yet, the vast majority of people who play here are NOT new players, they are old vets who have leveled multiple characters to 50. There is nothing good about making them suffer, if anything it hurts the community because it alienates those players trying to get their characters to the level they need to be to compete. Remember, this is an PvP base game after all. It is hard to compete when you're using the same gear for 10 levels at a time, because there is no gear available to new players, and if it is, it is over priced.

So, why don't they play on instant shards then? Playing Uthgard is different. If they don't want to invest time they wouldn't be here for long anyway.

I don't get the idea of PL. It's a game, if you don't enjoy playing it why do you look for a easier way? I know daoc doesn't offer much till 50 but instead of PL I'd preffer even instant 50. Becouse PL is manual and boring version of inst 50. Had the same problem with my friends, all left at early lvls except one. But this server still works while there are other options, maybe this is the formula.

I loved PL in Siabra City in the early days. You spent the whole night blasting away with mana bombers while chatting or talking with your guildmates on TS. Super socializing event. No pressure, no fancy tactics, just DPSing, running around and doing as much damage as possible and watching your twinks level up. That was swell, best brainless fun I ever had in any game.

Guess that wouldnt do here as well?
DAoC Live 2003:
Avalon Hibernia | First skillcap alchemist in Europe | Raidleader for up to 200 people | Highest RR nightshade on server | Several Lvl 50 toons | filthy rich :P
Uthgard 2013:
Just casual ;)

Because in the end, i came here to play Daoc..and i'll just have to accept the fact that maintaining an ideal is more important than listening to the people who are actually playing the game.

Its not really an issue that i'm that passionate about and all, but I feel like the opinion is more in favor of it than opposed. Its a part of Uthgard i think is fairly criticized.
