Been collecting data anon on the boards for a while, waiting for my new mono. It seems Hib isn't drastically overpopulated so maybe ill take a stab at a Hib tank as I've never played one to 50. Really disappointed to find out Le Smh is bugged as a Lw hero was my first thought. Now leading toward BM. Starting from scratch on the server what is your thoughts guys/gals? Happy Turkey day!

BM seems to be the popular choice here on Uthgard. Most rvr grps run 2 BMs. If you roll a champ or VW you will be forced to small man or solo as they are not popular in grps. Heros are great, every grp should have 1 for slam and peels on enemy tanks and assist on support and casters are needed. Hib tanks are lots of fun, I hope you enjoy whatever choice you make.

when ive been searching information on large weapon i seen several people saying that the dmg for some reason (maybe weaponskill scaling_) is off. i really hope this is just all speculation because id like to roll a lw hero as my first character to get my started and be able to farm for others.

Defense Penetration doesnt work right on Uthgard. So if u face an Enemy with Shield you wont hit him for real.
Also sometimes dmg of 2Handed-Weapons in Hib/Alb is crap.

guys really appreciate the feedback and replies. im seriously caught up between a defensive hero or dps bm as my first hib tank. I like the idea of both alot.

If you think you would enjoy both chars equally, then take a BM; you get more versatility and will probably have a better time in the BGs. Also great for duoing with a bard. Charge is pretty overpowered on Uthgard without Bodyguard and the other ToA nonesense. Also, groups normally run two BMs, but only one hero (so twice the base-chance of getting grouped).

Either Hero or Bm is a good decision, champs and valewalkers aint popular due to missing stoicism and rarely taken for full grps.
Hero won't shine with great DPS but can add a ton of supporting abilities to your group, most of the time you will be either blocking, snaring or following the assist train if doing your job properly. If you are not ahead with the pressure that your grp does, you will rarely have the time to Dps alot in grp fights.

People always tend to say offtanks like BM/Zerkers/Mercs are ''easymode'' chars, those are usually the ones that have no clue about the game. It is very tricky to know when you can go in, when you should fall back to your grp, and how to use your Ras wisely. Note that BM might contain frustrating moments, if you aint experienced with Offtanks you will often die alone in the front :P

Edit : As lasastard said, BM can be much more enjoyable if playing in Battlegrounds, but you will be forced to spec 42 shield, which means that you will always have to open your inventory (or keep your inventory open all the time) to switch your offhand weapon in after getting a slam down. It doesn't really bother me but some people don't play bm/merc just for that reason
Nefcait : Bard
Gua : Enchanter

I've been spending more time on the forums here then playing assasins 3 haha. I can't wait to start man. I have a rr 6 merc on live so i do have some exp has off tank but mostly in a extend group with alb casters. I'm thinking BM is going to be my first but probably take a s/s hero to 50 as well eventually. Once I can outfit a second or third (ranger). Ive been reading that the drop rate on uth is pretty low and hard to make coin. So i guess tailoring is the best trade to get started as well.

So I finally got in game and got my BM to lvl 8. Community was great my first night in game, really enjoyed it. Can see how important gold/plat is starting from scratch. So leads me to a question: What tradeskill should my first character take in order to have enough coin for a template at 35?
