Hi folks,

I was formerly playing on german server Avalon in Hibernia. Probably a few guys remember me, I left before ToA went live, but till then I had a nightshade with the highest RR on my server, was the first alchemist with skillcap in Europe, filthy rich and ranked officer in the guild SCHWERT & ROSE.

Long story short, some part of me always regretted leaving this early. And although I dont have the time I had back in the day, I asked myself, if its maybe a viable solution to level a toon to level 20 and play battlegrounds now and again. Are they active and populated enough to enjoy them regularly?

And if so would anybody like to join me in leveling and help me gear the toon? I could also offer some credits in SWTOR Vanjervalis Chain in exchange.

Any info will be appreciated. :)

Battlegrounds are different here.

Like 20-35
36-43
44-49
Or roughly like that. Dont go to early or youll be wormfood.

First BG will be fun even in drop gear. In Wilton and Thidranki, most players are well equipped and use buff pots. So you ll have a hard time to finance your gear and needed pots with exping your toon only.

Maybe you want to xp another toon to make some cash - i have no clue what this would be for hib... generally a caster or healer is less gear dependent.

And yes.. its well worth - its fun like in old days, except lots is not classic here, but custom or a mix of classic and newer patchlevels.

I play alb, so I cant help you out - maybe you ll find some old friends online.

Oh dear, I remember the first original BG was 16-20. That would have been nice, because its rather easy to accomplish and 5 levels isnt THAT much of a difference. But 20-35 is a lot, and leveling to 35 might take some time, espacially after all these years without connections on the server. My last toon I pushed from 1-50 in under a week, but my first... Whole different story. :wall:

First BG is fine at 30+ and that isn't too hard to get.
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> You have to be a c*** to be awesome at daoc

The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

Mh depends, would like to play a nightshade again, because it has always been my favourite character. But they are not exactly good in groups and solo leveling was quite tedious work when I last played the game.

Thats something to look forward to. Would be espacially great if they disable XP gain in BGs, so you can play it forever ever ever.

This won't happen. We want you to progress to 50.

people will get eventually kicked out of bg when reaching rr cap. why make it complicated for me to wipe over and over so i can reach rp cap before i proceed to pvm?

whats the aim of that kind of change? more easy to eat low RR chars as fodder for high RRs in emain?

keep in mind that currently A LOT of players did not get over the gap from 4L2 to RR5 or need ages of time for that. introducing the old BG levelrange is not helpful, even it may be live like.

As far as I remember from vanilla you got way less RP in the battlegrounds, espacially the 16-20 BG. Maybe things are different around here, but I still remember when Kein (one of my groupmates on Avalon) hit RR11 (when it was still cap) as first player on our server, and that took like ages. No way you could have done that in a BG in any sane amount of time.

For me playing low level battlegrounds would just be a way to connect to a game I have loved as a teenie and spend some quality time in it. As much as I loved the old days I have no intention of grinding a char to 50 and equip him again.

So please find a way for casual players like me to revive the old low level battlegrounds and make them enjoyable for as long as possible, and (if thats an issue) without them granting an unfair advantage in late game. :)

To be honest, I like the system as it is here, w/o xp off.
I've played on life for ages, and definitely had tons of fun with out-caped chars in the BG's! But to watch it from the other side, nothing is more daunting for a new player than being permanently whiped by over-enchanted luxury toons from old players on their first experiences in RvR. And thats exactly what happened after this command was activated on life.
Sure there are still out-caped toons in the BG's, but I would assume much less than otherwise.
