I think Shieldslam is pretty mandatory for fulltanks in rvr. Groups will probably not like you

Yes it is viable, i would prefere a BM as deff tank tho, due to double PF chance.

I assume you want to play it as a duel characte because for rvr you would like to have a shield specc. I would always take the 42+ shield anyway, not only for the slam but you ´re more flexible in fights.

I played a parry/spear hero without shieldskill once for a while on live with TOA and buffbot and it wasn ´t that good.
The oportunity switching to shield and parry is way better defence instead just trust in your parry while you waiting until you can hit again.

Dunno how it works out on Uthgard 2.0 but on live servers shield has always been much better than parry. The 50 parry/50 spear specc looks mighty on paper, but I was really disappointed about the parry rate,- I got badly destroyed by most classes.

After I switched to 50 shield 50 spear it got much better, but as mentioned above my experience was with TOA and buffbot on live server, so it could be complete different here.

50 LW
42 Shield
39 Spear
6 Parry / 1 handed or whatever you fancy.

Best of both worlds?

However above would I assume give you access to all 3 damage types....you would have a LOT of swapping etc and need a good knowledge of armour types etc.

Parry.....most of your targets will be running away from you.....

42 Shield
10 Blades
4 Parry

Since you won't need the 39 CS style, and you'll only ever really need to use the spear to behind snare anyway. All other situations LW is better. 10 Blades for side snare.

Hm? So you want the 50 / 50 parry spearo for grp rvr ?
Than it ´s even way more useless specc , cuz you don ´t need parry in assist train and as you said, when enemy tanks are on you it ´s over anyway...even in some cases were you ´re not last pick,- I would rather go with shield to block several attackers and being more flexible with stun & guard. But it ´s your choice, if you wanna play that way just do it but don´t expect too much.

i played this spec on my main (Gawain) i had to fake my shield stun using the side stun for years :p on Daoc .. people know what they want in their grp, forget about what you want to play it doesnt work like that. fun to hear hu?

this spec is Really good in Pve with the parry chain hi dmg - low endu its insanely fun. than i respeced LW and tried all the spec listed on this forum. 9sec stun is what you need in rvr while your target is stun use the side style..
if you dont want the daoc elitist drama.. spec 42 or 50 shield.
