Dear hibies (and others), I’ve got some doubts about WHAT I’ll play… Anyone wana help me to decide ?

Just to know more about me :

- I’m not a conventional guy, I like exotic/uncomon specs/chars. But with this new release, I’ll have less time to manage difficulties.
- My likes and dislikes : capture/defense (+), camp gates/tp (-), open field rvr (+++), df rvr (++), solo rvr (+), 2-4 small men rvr-grp (++), 5-6 medium rvr-group (+++), rvr-fg (++) zerg-rvr (+), solo xp (-), 2-3 small men xp (+), 4-5 small men xp (++), xp-fg (++), zerg xp (+++), drak/legion (+).

Here we go :

    • #1 My true love and favorite : VW

In 1.69+ version of the game I could (re)do one, but in 1.65, there are too much changes for me. For eg : No det, no purge 3 with a 5 min CD, no free RR5 abla, no more conflag... It’ll be very very underdog to play. Moreover, and few people know, it’s a very expensive/hard char to build (5 stats, 3 skills, all resist, hp, mana with only 1 weap = impossible SI). But, very fun to pve with.

    • #2 Champion

Same as VW… unloved/unliked = big difficulties… no way do that.

    • #3 Warden

Ok in smallgrp + set grp. Resist buffs are very usefull BUT can’t assist heal + have BT at the same time. No cure disease/envenom. 1 root + 1 NS and game-over for him. The solo rvr is very hard (can’t solo VS dual wielder/casters). Hard/long to pve solo

    • #4 BM

Set char, grp/small grp friendly. Assist train/damage dealer. Can do some pve

    • #5 Eld (1) or Menta (2)

I fear a bit casters in 1.65 : the survivability of a caster is very low with all tanks groups outside. And the regen mana rate is very low. But... I could do :
- a light Eld or an uncomon mana/void eld spec.
- a mana Menta will be very needed at the start in pve. It could start RVR with a mana spec but will have to respec light fast.

So, #1, #2, #3, #4, #5(1) or #5(2) ? Which one should I choose ? And why !

depends how important the exotic/uncommon aspekt is compared to be viable in rvr because the better rvr classes and speccs will always be more popular, with old ra's more than ever.

The VW, your true love :p

Run through, backstun, fire the haste buff and go to town with sidestyles. Played it on Genesis and freaking loved it. But you already did a rr11 one, so... (I believe you can intercept on a vw, right? nice, when rooted just have a squishy walk over to you)

Light eld is nice in group rvr. I liked that a whole lot too.

My 3rd option would be an animist. Can be a very efficient thing.. Huge frontload damage with bombers and lifetap
Uth1: Equade rr10 ranger, Fight rr7 sb, Sinwar rr6 thane
Genesis: Swift rr7 champ, Reaperinho rr6 vw, Sinwar rr5 eld
Uth2: NS, VW and Eld

I hope you don't hate me for highjacking your thread, but I had a similar question and it would be silly for me to make my own.

Here are the 3 criteria for the class I would like to play:

1) The class is desired in groups. I don't like to do solo, so I want to play a class people will want to invite.

2) The class has castable buffs outside the group and can PL my slower leveling friends. I won't buff bot obviously, but I would certainly like to be able to help my friends.

3) Not a Druid. My spouse is playing a Druid and I want to play something else. I'll be playing a hero with him, and this will be for when I want to play and he can't.

I think mana mentalist fits well because they have mana Regen, dmg shield, and heals. I would also like to play enchantment enchanter for the best DA, but I'm worried people will only invite enchanters specced for bombing. Any other interesting ideas? Bard and warden could work too but I think they are less optimal.

Also I vote 1. VW are really cool and if keep battles happen frequently, you will really enjoy him there. Good in open RvR but not having det hurts.

valewalkers are fantastic, so are champs

if you love them make one, i would never not invite a champ or VW because no det

det isnt everything

also wardens are one of the best classes in hib and a pulsing bubble is insane

i think the best 8 man rvr group i ever had was a double bubble group , we killed everything

It gona be a....Warden.
I think it's the right choice in view of my new irl constraints

Can pve : solo / tank small grp / tank fg / raid
Can rvr : small grp / tank fg + hybrid fg / zerg - no solo rvr at least not very well with the spec 'm going to have

+ red resists will be a real must have because it lower the magical CCs duration
+ bt is enjoyable in rvr and pve (only on lvl 60- mobs because high level mobs can hit through)
+ side snare in blade spec is a really nice tool to peel
+ fast weapon swing to interupt

- bad dmg but everyone know it's not a dmg dealer so idc
- poor regrowth line (no cures !! That's a really bad thing)
- very low mana with bt on

Why no...
VW / Champ - because it gona be too hard to get a grp in both pve and rvr and I don't want to be a solo char. Same with Thane and Reaver, at least in RvR. 1.65 isn't a hybride patch love. Live with it or leave it.
BM because I realised I don't want to play a brainless assist damage dealer char
Casters because mana issue + too many mid tanks around

Loved my warden live back on live way back in 1.65 and loved mine on the beta here.

Wife being a druid will love you because you can base buff saving her conc for spec buffs. And you can still pbt stack if you have a 38 spec warden with a 49 spec warden. And yes it makes your team so much easier to keep up.

Exotic and grp rvr is kind of contradicting each other with old ras. I d suggest a Bard. its always good, limited solo fun though but possible if you are patient and noone adds in the mean time.
Warden is also a good choice if you like to play tank grps, better solo options but keep defense will be more fun in a bomber grp.
