Another one moving to Hib and looking for some people

Heya.
So I'm currently playing a Thane, on which I've invested quite some time already. I perfectly knew what was I getting into when I chose that class, the thing I couldn't anticipate however is how gimped the block rate is (related issue). Maybe it's just a low rank issue, maybe not, thing is I currently feel even more useless in RvR groups than I originally expected. That, coupled with the lack of big / keep fights in which Thane is quite fun to play, is kind of demotivating. Because of that, I'm going to start a new character, and that will probably be a Valewalker. Actually I used to play one back then for quite some time, so I know the class pretty well. I knew it isn't the ideal class in the current 8vs8 mindset (though I used to play mine for 8vs8 exclusively), but you know, the nostalgia, all that. I don't know how long it'll last but I'll just go for it. Problem is, I'm leaving behind the only few people I know on this server (at least for a time) and I've heard that Hib's PvE is pretty much "closed". I don't have much trouble leveling / farming solo but getting level 50 and still having an empty friend list and no guild wouldn't be great. Hence my post, I'm basically looking for some people to play with, or even just chat with. A friendly and moderately sized guild would be nice. If there is one out there looking for some fresh blood, please let me know :p Edit: Forgot something important, realm transfer will end in about 6 days, so I'm not there yet. Edit2: Mostly EU times. |

Switching to Hib and rolling a Valewalker is all well and good, but I feel obliged to inform you that leveling up on Hib is actually more difficult than Mid, in my personal opinion. There are less players on Hib meaning there are less groups, and with the decline in server population lately it will only get worse. There is also a favoured group system on Hib as well, which involves mostly casters. Melee toons usually get shunned because they require bards for endurance, and most groups tend to go for Mentalists instead. I must stress that this isn't the case for every group, but you will understand what I'm referring to when you get to Hib.
Other than that, Hib is the choice of champions! ![]() ![]() |

At this point choosing to roll any melee class without a guild is going to be brutal compared to a favored class. good luck.

Dont listen to the haters. Get on, type /who hero 10 15 and start inviting (for example). We ran melee setups from 1-50 and it was easy. 75% of the casters here are complete noobs who don't know what theyre doing; there is too much downtime, idiot enchanters who wipe the group, etc. just not worth it. Melee is the way to go

No one is hating, just stating ... there is a difference! Also, melee groups are really efficient with a constant flow of xp; however, trying to get a consistent melee group together on Hib is like trying to find Henry Morgan's treasure in your garden. It's true that Hib does seem to have a lot of inexperienced players on Uthgard, but the truth is, a good focus group is still better and faster than a melee group. |

block / parry / defense skills do not work on uthgard at all

I appreciate your concern and value your opinion, however that's pretty much how DAoC always has been (pre Catacombs at least). In fact I don't remember grouping much back in the days and most groups were incomplete (something unthinkable on Uthgard it seems). What we've experienced the last few weeks isn't the norm, it was a temporary thing. Even on Mid people are now starting to have trouble building full groups, and eventually you'll need friends or a decently sized guild to get 50 in a reasonable time. But really leveling isn't what I'm personally concerned about.

And its not really a population thing. yesterday in a streamers chat we compared /who all at eu primetime.
1046 Albs, 1074 Hibs and 1143 Mids. Thats pretty close. The thing is: its just as hard to find a group of casters in Midgard as it is to find a group of melees in Hibernia. When you use the LFG-tool and use /who <class> <minlevel> <maxlevel> you will have a group filled pretty quick. |

As opposed to using the AWESOME LFG tool!?!? THIS IS MADDESS ![]() "I was born ready."
