Some BM questions.

So I plan on leveling a BM and I've seen some specs that I had questions about. So far I have chosen blades as my weapon and I plan on going 50CD 39Weap. Are blunts better to end up with as my weapon spec or will I be fine with blades? Also why do I see so many people put left over points into shields when they are high CD? IMO parry would be a better choice as your "defensive" line spec.

You only parry hits coming your way, whereas with shield you can slam and guard others. Putting points into shield gives you way more utility for different situations than mere parry.
Just like heros spec LW/spear and shield. A typical example would be slam, switch to dualwield and hit side/rear positionals. |

Blades is fine. Nothing wrong with that. And what Rontti said. |
|
parry has minimal to no use in grouped rvr the reason for this is a great malus on your parry rate if you are atacked by more than one enemy.
if you plan to go solo blademaster go parry since you wont need an anytime shield stun if you are good enugh (but it makes things alot easier so most ppl go for shield even for a solo blademaster) if you plan to do grouped rvr ignore parry ... put 42 points into shield so you are able to slam enemys of your groups supporters or mages or go full dmg output to be an awesome dmg dealer |
|
If you want to make solo BM use this spec: 50 cd, 39 weapon, 42 shield. Its the best spec in my opinion, for solo and for rvr.

since there are some foolproof tricks to do sidestuns in duels you dont need 42 shield
|
|
Maybe some people can use sidestyles in duels, but its not working against every player. Some palyers dont stick/face in duels so it becomes more difficult to use sidestyles.
Besides that you got nearly same dmg output with both skills so there is only one real reason not to spec 42 shield: its not easy to build a decent template. |

Hm. I prefer Blunt.
Shar Blademaster 50 RR6 : Spec __ Celtic Dual, Spec 50 Blunt, Spec 34 Shield, Spec 42 Parry, Spec 20 __ 0 Skill Points Left ![]() RA Spec (6l1) __ Determination IV Augemented Strength IV Mastery of Pain III _ I like this Spec. Very good Damage. i have everything Capped with 4x 99% and 2x MP Armor. Weapons are MP too. Only 1 high Drop. Megalodon Bracer. Maybe you try Det4, Str 3, MoP 3, Charge 2 for alt. After you did a bit RvR ^^ If you wanna run Solo, you should try 50 Blunt. Cuz of 10 sec after Parry Stun. thats nice for Soloing, too. Thats what i prefered. so far Back active after 2 Years

I can't speak from experience yet but I think MoPain is way more effective than AugStr.
The slight different in str can't compete with a crit chance of MoPain IV or even V + 10% base chance ^^. That's just what I think tho, still need to get myself some more BPs to test it. |
|
i think augmented st, MoP etc are crap...
for exemple MoP 4 you paid 10 points to have 17% critical hit. critical with a cap of 50%. you can do 1% critical as 50% critical so you do => +25% damage 17% of the time. so you paid 10 points to increase your damage with 4%... use a DD charge it'll be more effectiv ![]() <img src="http://www.fallenearth.fr/daoc/daoc2.php?player=Panachou">

Lol. |

blunt is good for the 10 sec stun, if you don't go 50 blunt I don't see reason to spec it, blunt is weak against chain and since all healers wear chain, you want blades
also difference between heavy tank and light tank apart for DW is charge, so at least charge 1 is necessary imo |
|
Ehm u're so wrong. You can do 1% crit to even 100%. Also, you're forgetting the 10% base crit chance. MoP V (ok that's a lot of points) will get u at 49% crit chance which is very close to cap (50%). I'm not sure how to calculate that, but I'm 100% sure it's more than.. 4% even with mopain 3 it's WAY more ![]() Anyway I'd like to duel with MoPain 5 vs Aug Str 5 or even ....a DD charge >.< |
|
So Champs could have 39% + 20% + (Dual Threat) + 10% base chance = 69% crit chance??
Looks pretty insane to me =P |
