Hey Guys,
I am new to the server, played Live pre SI, and quit right before Lab. Got the itch to come back to both DAOC and what I like to call home Hibernia :). I have had two 50 BMS before one shar pierce master, one firby blunt master (as well as other 50 toons). Both did relatively well in RVR.

I just rolled a champ on Uthgard, and from what I have seen this is a great tank/dmg dealer. I can consistently solo two yellow mobs at a time and still have roughly 3/4 HP left. However, reading through the forums, it seems Champs dont do that well in RVR compared to a Hero or a BM? I have gotten the champ to level 16 so far (just started 3 days ago) however I do not want to continue if I will be gimped in RVR. Are there any champs here that can chime in to the effectiveness or lack of in RVR? Thanks for your input guys :).

i can advise you to roll hero or even better a Bm that can use shield.

I have a guildmate that begun a champ 2 yeras and half ago; now he is 10Lx but every day he spend 70% of his time to ask a group for RVR.. instead a Bm spend very little time to find a group.

If you can roll a BM or Hero, avoid champion if you want to make a huge RVR action.

What your champ does in pve isn't very relevant also cause mob at lower level do way too little damage. The problem with champions is that they don't have stoicism as opposed to hero/bm and 2h damage is inferior to dualwielders like bm. They can be pretty neat if you go def tank champ.

Champs are fine in rvr, they're simply not wanted in groups because they lack stoicism.

If you wanna do damage and be wanted in groups make a blademaster. If you make a hero people will only expect you to be a guard bot.

Seems to me a s/s Champ would be great at protecting a Bard/Druid with /guard, shield slam and snare shouts. Am I wrong?

Snare shout is worthless on tanks on uthgard. Debuffs however can be quite nice.

If i can advise you another time.. better firby BM instead of firby Hero

Champion is more like a fun char. They can be really good in small groups or solo but in 8vs8 they are a bit too vulnerable to mezz and root.

Don't listen to the above slam specced failures attempting to be sarcastic. BM still does the most damage in hibernia.

Actually a melee spec ranger will out DPS a BM any day of the week. The problem is they lack Charge/Slam capablity, and have less HPs. But Rangers certainly deal more dps, just good luck finding a RVR group :P
