On live server, with the 1.84 version, there is a major crafting update.

One point of this update is the adding of crafting items in mobs loot's table.

It could be useful for high level crafters no ?

Need some opinions ^^

I guess you are referring to wooden boards, metal bars, cloth squares, and so on. I'm not sure if I would want to farm mobs for the required items to do some crafting.
Situation 1: I have to craft something. Do I really want to go and search for a mob to drop my material? It probably isn't a 100% drop chance so I have to kill several mobs (for a long time) until I have everything I need. I guess it is way faster to go to a NPC merchant.

Situation 2: I'm just farming mobs for XP. From time to time material will drop. Since I don't need it at that time I can put it into my vault but more likely I will sell it to an NPC merchant to get the money for a new weapon/armor.
In both cases I don't see the advantage of crafting material being dropped by mobs. Maybe an argument is to save money by not paying for material? I'd rather sell normal loot from any mob and spend this money on material from shops when I need it. If you know of some real advantages I would be happy to hear them.
Happy hunting!

The only thing i see is when you are high level and you farm money, you get some high lvl materials too and keep it.
If you don't need it, you could sell it to your guild for a less price than npc...
Yes it's not a revolution... lol

when i was crafting a lot i found it very dissapointing to find dartmoore drops not salvagible... i read some story's about crafters harvesting seals and buying DF weapons to salvage and craft, and i aggree with T-man, money, money money... and money is the problem if you craft, the only possible plus could be that mobs, in distend places like datmoore or lyonesse or DF drop sets of material to craft arrows or bolts, so you don't have to carry a lot of arrows.... or maybe it are the drops we need to make legendary they would drop... that would be nice

but i'm stuck at 1046 fletching atm and it costs me about 1/2 plat for each point, and legendary stays red in my list... oh well, maybe someone will come up with a better story or some info

I've patched up the salvage system a lil' bit a few weeks ago. Most stuff should now be salvagable including DF Items. If not please report the items to me that don't return any material (complete names)
