Actually a melee spec ranger will out DPS a BM any day of the week. The problem is they lack Charge/Slam capablity, and have less HPs. But Rangers certainly deal more dps, just good luck finding a RVR group :P

Lol, no. Rangers do the most damage of all archers in melee but saying they do more than blademasters is just childish overreacting.

Granted I have not played to 50 both of my Ranger/BM, I can say that without a doubt, the Ranger does ALOT more dmg than my BM. I consistantly pull aggro from the BMs in PVE groups, and notice that when soloing mobs, the ranger takes mobs down significantly faster. The reason? The Dmg Add spell....

Tob is right... tho I suppose if you are comparing a melee ranger with their self buffs, and a BM w/o any buffs, that could be possible. However if equally buffed, the ranger is not going to out dps the BM.... and in a group, the BM is going to be buffed.

This is the case, I am mainly comparing both solo. That being said, a Ranger also benefits from buffs from the other classes too, so its not like the buffs that a BM gets make up for the Pathfinding line of the ranger completely, but it does even the playing field a bit. The biggest difference is the DMG add. The dmg add makes up a good (off the cuff guess) 20% of the dmg a Ranger puts out.

From my experience, the dmg is probably a bit higher on a BM, if the ranger doesnt have the dmg add buff, this is because thier dmg tables are significantly higher than a rangers. But when u add that huge dmg add buff, it just makes a HUGE difference.

are you seriously saying a fullbuffed bm's dmg < fullbuffed+selbuffed ranger's dmg?

and that because of their dmg add?

lolz

but yeah , bms dmg should be higher

Back to topic - i think a Det V sword and shield champ (i.e. 42 shield, 50 valour 39 weap) is really good in a group if played well... 2 different instarupts with strong range, slam + guard defence for ally support, red haste debuff for enemy tanks, str/con debuff when /assisting from a defensive position in the battlefield, d/q debuff for enemy support/casters... I would invite a good champ to a group anyday ^^

Problem is, Debuffs arent unique, eld has them too on a lower recast time and with area effect.

Eld also has to use it's power on more crucial things. This isn't live, mages using debuffs here will go oop too fast. Eld doesn't have a haste debuff either.

I'd say it depends on how many ppl you can get with your ae debuffs on an eld... if you can get 4 or more all nicely stacked together, I'd use it. Otherwise, save the mana.
