i think we have presto to blame

drops are so good they don't want our stuff
regardless of all the hours we spent, crafting, and financing it

i got bancrupt just thinking about opening a shop...

i have a duskwood masterpiece staff, but why bother to spend 10 plat
on crafting a second one if you can't sell it?

did they live for free and ate "love" in the camalot era?
i don't think so :D

I suppose that the important is damage per second instead of weapon kind, right? Assumig the user has the proper weapon skill, of course. So If all your special bows have the same DPS, why do the prices vary so much like 80 gold the cheapest to 200 gold the most expensive? What is the difference?
I have a lower level scout (lvl 8 ) and also look for things related to dexterity and quickness, that is why I asked about your bows.

the answer is very simple

longbow is made of far more material then shortbow

every bow you craft uses an amount of material, to craft 99% bow you need to make more then one, if you sell back the "bad" bows, you loose money, so the price of the bows includes +/- 3 retries..

you can find prices here http://crafting.camelotguilds.org/alb_weaponcalculator.htm
