Back when I played DAOC (3-4 years ago) most priests/druids went with the snare/root line for RvR but people have been telling me that the nurture line is more viable in hibernia these days.

Are they right?

depends on the group you'll be running in, but mostly yes - its good to have high nurture as there are no buffbots on this server and so all the seers in the groups need to buff :(

The following two specs are the most basic and most common, similar to cleric.

42 nurture/33 regrowth/7 nature

This is my current spec. Speaks for itself. Yellow specs with red int, good heals and 2nd pet which still dies in one cast or one blow from a tank but the few swings a healer or caster needs to melee it down, as it rupts even at lvl 7, are valuable seconds that you won for your grp.

40 nurture/35 regrowth/9 nature

Pretty much the same except you trade in red int for a better grp insta.

Other possible specs are:

44 nurture/31 regrowth/4 nature

You get red s/c and int aswell as red heat resist but you give up a lot of healing power without the yellow major & greater heal. Could be considered at low rr due to lower mana costs but you should really go for mcl2/sere2 asap and get 33regrowth, you really want them bigger heals and red s/c isn't a world of difference.

36 nurture/ 33regrowth/22 nature

Tri-spec. You'll have only blue d/q and haste but you gain the stun pet which can be quite useful and a 38sec ae root which isn't too shabby on non-det/stoic classes. Favorable if you're playing a bit more offensive.

12 nurture/ 33regrowth/39 nature

Nature spec! Your buffs are louzy so your grp will have to run with charges or ae buffs like in mid but you get some cool gadgets. An ae insta root, single insta root, a 1 minute ae root, and a strong pet which should be decent but due to a buggy code does little damage here.
Pick-up grps won't love you for it but it could work in set groups who know how to play with a nature druid. I wouldn't advice it if you're not familiar with hib rvr.

All in all you can't go wrong with the upper 2 specs. 75% of druids are specced like this and are the most straight forward. Tri-spec or even nature could be fun and puts you as a druid in a somewhat different role however in pug climate not always very comfortable. There are ofc other tri-specs and nature specs. These are just suggestions.

ive been toying with 49nurture/22nature in theory but haven't put it into practice ^^

would play abit like a gimped shaman and would only really work in setgrps with 3 druids.

2 Druid specs in the same grp.. and it rocks imo :D

First druid: (the def Druid) Playing in the back, shear bot and mainheal druid for the Caster(s).

42 nurt 33 reg :

red Acu for caster, and the others are yellow, and good enough, there is no need for red s/c imo.
With 33 reg you also have big and strong heals.

Second Druid: (the off Druid) Playing in the Front to rupt the enemys Healers/Casters, the ruptmaschine in this grp., also have to heal the Tanks/Bard if they get dmg.

36nurt / 33 reg / 22 nat :

36 nurt = Yellow s/c & acu , Blue d/q & Haste , all basebuffshears.
33 reg = big and strong enough heals to keep the others alive.
22 nat = Ruptmaschine! lvl 20 Pet, dont die like the lvl 12 one. And the lvl 22 Ae root. Perfect for rupting the Healers/Caster in the back without Det. You also can try to ae root an Alb AT, cause the root is matter based. Albs always run without an Friar ;)
