Hello all,

I've started to level a minstrel in the hopes of some solo and group pvp when I get 50... but I've noticed that it seems a lot of alb groups don't run with minstrels on Uthgard, but I don't know for sure so I'm asking... (I come from 6-7 years ago where they were in almost all groups on mythic servers).

So at 50, are minstrels not included in groups anymore or generally replaced with another dps/tank/healer instead? Am I better off rerolling a skald on Mid for group rvr at 50?

Very rarely. Rupting is broken here and minstrels have very little use in group fights because of that. Skald is a much better choice if you wanna get a group.

Sorry for being a noob, but what is rupting and how does it effect the minstrel?

Interrupting enemy casters.

How it should work: you cast a spell that rupts (in other words any besides instant stat debuffs or amnesia, none of which minstrel has anyway) on someone and they shouldn't be able to cast in the next 3 seconds.

How it works on uthgard: you cast a spell and the person can continue to cast right after. The only way to effectively interrupt someone on uthgard is to rupt them WHILE they're casting and it's only possible in the first half of the spell's channeling (for example if the spell takes 2 seconds to cast you have a 1 second opportunity window to rupt someone). Makes it extremely difficult to actually efficiently rupt (on live a good minstrel can rupt 3 people, on uthgard can barely rupt one if he times his instas and mez song right).

Ah ok... well yeah that's pretty bad for a minst then since that's their main purpose in pvp...

Are they planning on fixing that, or is it 'working as intended'?

They plan to fix hundreds of bugs, dont expect a special bug to be fixed very soonish.

what most people are forgeting to mention is how awesome minstrels are solo.

they are probably one of the worst enemies for mid/hibs and pretty much everyone hates them simply because they;re almost impossible to kill.

groups might not need you as much, but 1x1 or even 1x2/3 they're very hard to kill and will probably kill you with ease.

with overcharming, you can even take keeps solo.

Minstrels are nerfed on Uthgard tho. Why? Cause the mobs are! A good minstrel (ya ya, depending on spec etc) needs a very big pet that can deal damage. Mobs are still very nerfed on Uthgard (so pets are too).
Especially in Emain there is no good pet at all. In Alb/Mid there are some pets with spell effects at least, but Emain? Nothing usefull to get, especially not before you reach AMG to get zerged (thats where you need to have the pet already!)

Uth needs better Charm-Mobs, at least for Emain. And the mob-fix ofc, but Blue said its sortof a bigger problem to fix, in a different place.
