question on weapon speed concerning dps

hey there,
I know that if a weapon has 16,5 dps it should do 16,5 damage per second and if two weapons have the same dps but different speed they should make the same damage given an infinite number of hits. my question now is: I heard that poles slower than 5.0 had some sort of "extra bonus", which gives them additional dmg independent of dps - is that true? I actually prefer faster weapons to slower ones, as u get to do more styles and can use reactional styles (after parry/block etc.) better and more often... so, can some1 shows me some tests concerning dps and weapon speed? especially polearms interest me, as I currently play a pole-armswoman ![]() thanks a lot, Jezzmin Last edited by Jezzmin on May 19, 2010 11:36, edited 1 time in total.

Slower weapons do an additonal .03% per every 1 second of delay or something along those lines. It's part of the equation for base damage.
When haste/celerity is up if you reach you melée swing speed cap you can do more dps by running a slower weapon. |

ive noticed that too when playing as my friar.
slower staves that have lower marked DPS, seem to kill faster... i couldnt figure out why if it's 0.03% of damage, thats very insignificant. that means for 100 dps you only get 0.03 dps per second... sure it's not 3%? |

i don't know about that extra bonus but would like to know that, too! polearms SHOULD be slow imo. i also prefer to use fast weapons being 1h slash paladin.

found a great link for this issue:
http://roclar.net/DAoC/info.php#Melee but as I noticed that the slowest craftable 16,5 pole has a speed of 5,1 anyway, its sorta useless to do the maths ![]() hope that helps ![]() |
