the problem with people only go out with a perfect setup is an old problem but i have never encountered it to that extend on other servers.

Why is that? Because the only grps out there are the same grps every day, and you have absolutlely no chance and no fun against those grps without a perfect setup.

But you can't blame those grps for beeing active, higher RR and with more practice than pug grps.

On the other hand you can't blame the pug grp player for not going rvr at all, because there is no fun for them.

only solution would be more than 8-slot grps to even the chances, more adding, less flaming blah blah... said this often enough

On topic skalds with of RA's: the rupt system fixed would make skald at least not that senseless, with the current buggy system i see no space for skalds in the perfect setup, and without perfect setup people on this server don't...

It's already the case in BG, and last time I went there my awesome FG without heals got farmed twice by a 5man group with 2 healers + shaman and everyone logged out. Is that more fun than having a good setup and actually have a chance to fight back ? ;p

Honestly if some classes are left behind, the unbalances of the current patch limit is more to blame than the players. Not for nothing that classes like wizard, armsman, warden, etc were upgraded between 1.81 and 1.85. They were also not wanted on live.
Sadly uthgard is going backwards instead of going forward which will make things much worse for some classes (skald included).
I am assuming direct control.

True words here. Shame that we're moving towards 6-7 useful classes per realm. The possibility to fix where DAoC was wrong is being ignored and instead we dumb down the game.

Well that would all depend on what ppl find fun, now wont it?
Do you find fun typing /rel 1min after every inc?
I bet most don't.
Thats why good setups are wanted...
Degeneration of the server is whats killing the possible number of good setups imo.

In grps, very useless.
Can still solo tho. :?

:( i didn't play with Old ras so i miss the overview a bit, but if this is true (wich is actually often, when it comes from deamers mouth) than its very very sad

if there are some pug grps out of every Realm u dont have to /rel every 1min, thats the background ^^. If all run perfect setup pug dont have a chance, its a rat tail

I never encountered a Group without Skald at OF.
Its just a pain in the a.... to run around without maximum speed.

Skald does add some dmg to a group not like ministrels.
The most uber fotm midgrp (it was just the easiest setup ever) had a skald a shaman 3 healers, 3 svgs.

Today you would probably run
2 healers, 1 shaman, 1 warrior, 2 melee dps, rm

Still room for a Skald there.

Its not like your Albs.
