I am trying to start a new hero char and debating whether I should go
Luri ->50 shield, 50 pierce rest parry or Filborg 42 shield, 50 CS or LW and parry or weapon I figured that since 2h damage is a little gimp on uthgard, it's probably best to stick to 1h/shield, so luri spec seems a little better for that but if CS/LW damage is decent enough, maybe filborg is a better choice? what do you guys think? |

If you are going to play a Hero:
Lurikeen is kind of a novelty character. It is good in theory, and hilarious when using Hunt, but you get quickness, which you don't necesarilly need, and you lack alot of con, which you need. Only reason for going Lurikeen is if you're going to be a permanent guard bot for someone in RvR. Which is the current state of Heroes on this server. Celt is good overall. Can never go wrong with Celt. Firbolg is only really good if you want to run around dealing high 2h damage. But since 2h damage is borked to ****** on this server I do not really see the point in aiming for this. Chubbie

i would suggest firbolg if you can bear the look.
You can still guard/slam/snare and are still able to deal damage. Snare and stun is more important than guard so the extra str is nice. Fabienne - Blademaster

I went 50LW 42Shield 37CS 10blades on my hero. Celt. But imo any spec with 50LW or 50CS+42Shield and then whatever with the rest of your points works.
50pierce 50 shield is useless because a) Heros can actually do damage unlike say Paladins. 2H dmg might be so-so because of fecked up defense tables but an overextended zerker is still gonna drop like a sack of sh!t to your annihilation spam. b) 50 shield is overkill considering the dodgy block code. With 42+14 Shield I still block tons with guard. Same reason why I'd go for dmg RAs or actives like SB/DD and no MoB. |

wouldnt extra qui from luri set up increase my swinging speed, thus giving an advantage to damage dealt?
other than low con for luri, is they damage really that much lower? i understand i would be losing the back snare of CS and getting only 1 off block style, so maybe in the long run the style damage would be a bit less my only problem with going lw/cs is that I cant use my shield while using those weapons and imo blocking is something a hero should have. i remember trying to fight a 1h thane a few weeks back and he successfully blocked two of my five attacks and pretty much killed me easily. if i could block some of the attacks, that would kind of take care of the low hp for luri problem. or am I being complete wrong in my assumptions here? I did go firb in the end, just to get that little boost to attack and WS, but Im still thinking that luri might be quite a good idea too, since i can just stick to 1h pierce and dish out decent damage while blocking a lot. has anybody tried using luri with high pierce at all? |

THe real Problem is that you are dead in a sec against an AT (Caster or Tank)

In 1v1 you can just swing with a 2H and pull out the shield during the delay...
