Good Melee class..

Im Just about to get going on Midgard and was wondering what melee class is best for getting into groups and solo.. and which is fun to play.. im sure there isnt one that fills it all .. just looking at the whole picture which is best... Savage looks cool but not sure how they level.. Zerkers seem cool too.. i liked the warrior back in the day as 2 handed.. but i heard they arent needed.. plus im sure leveling isnt too pleasent on one of those.. Most likely will be leveling with a shaman btw.

Think warri zerk and savage are all 3 fine.
Savage might not be good for solobut for grp all are fine. I would pick what you like most. But got little to none mid experience so amybe wait for some mid replies Fabienne - Blademaster

If you want to play defense, go warrior... There are many good warriors around, but all of them play defense in groups....
If you want to be able to constantly deal very good damage, go for berserker. High anytime damage, even higher positional damage in addition to possible backsnare and dmgpeak called VENDOMODE makes this one THE BEST melee damage dealer in game especially because they halve block and evade due to Left Axe which is most impostant in 8vs8. If you want to be able to tear your enemy apart with incredible peakdamage, almost always capped combatspeed, highest 360° defense in game going as far as even onehitting casters! Go for SAVAGE! You will miss charge and backsnare in comparison to bersi. You will get blocked a lot if you face a guardbot, but you will have infinite endurance, backstun, sidestun, strongest anytimer on this server! You will be playing the class that is able to outdamage a mercenary and blademaster over time by twofold if your enemy will not get guarded by a deftank that is! I recommend you to not go savage. Savages attacks counts as 1h and cant hit clerics/druids/guarded casters etc at all compared to zerk because overpowered bugged blockrates and no defensive penetration.
Even without charge zerkers are better both defensive and offensive, charge, vendo and a better rr5 makes it a easy decision that zerk > svg always. Before the quad/trips rate nerf and before the blockrates became op savages were killing machines. Many players still remember these times and over rate savages cause of it. If you will be leveling duo with a shaman, zerk or war is better cause of better anytimer styles. |

That is a lie... Savage anytimer is a 0.9 GR medium endu style, while savage can generate endu itself, as a hp to endu conversion, beeing grouped with a healing class will get the xp rolling quickly. Also bersi, as defense, has evade3 + parryspec while savage has evade4 + parryspec which is already better, but as addition defense buffs in form of up to +25% evade +25% parry +25% each melee resi. Quadchance going down from ~3% to ~2% and trippchance from ~15% to ~11% and dual hit chance from ~30% to ~25%..... As i said in my previous post, berserker is the best off-tank on uthgard, but savage deals the highest damage while beeing unreliable to be able to deal constant damage vs opponents. |

Zerks and Mercs are the best offtanks. I prefer Mercs for slam. Savage high constant damage is good if you like to hit on dummies for long times. But i still recommend zerk over svg to the op if he does not want to be suboptimal in uthgard rvr. And go troll if youre going to play in groups.
h2h while leveling is bad since multihitrates are low until lvl 40+. 0.9 GR on a lower base is still lower than using 2h hammer specc provoke. Im not saying 2h hammer svg is bad for leveling but in my opinion, dual wielding zerkers are better. |

Sorry, i dont understand what youre talking about....
Just recently i have xped a zerk to a higher level, not 50 yet.... And i do not understand one bit about berserker beeing better on lower level than savage due to left axe... I was using highlevel crafted weapons, well before i used em, i got that zerker ac to legendary level to be able to repair them. Kinda until lvl 40 the left axe damage sucked hard because of the low spec= low damage so i was bound to using slow 2h with all the usual miss and fumbles. And the 2h damage wasnt actually that much better either due to the low spec = low damage. While on my earlier savage i could easily keep hitting with h2h at almost capped speed without this many misses/fumbles while utilizing the reactionary styles. hp->def problem was solved with hpreg and instahp pots. Also, savage damage is nothing like constant! Only specDD caster damage is constant if you exclude crits. Last edited by Satz on Aug 14, 2010 13:23, edited 1 time in total.

Heho,
Make a Berserker or a Warrior, both is need with level 50. At the momentan Savages aren´t so good, because of the buggy block rate. Greetz Luydor |

I agree, besides savages suck at solo grinding. I have leveled all 3 tanks solo and the savage had by far the most down time. Funny thing a thane (frosty full SC) solo seems the fastest to level solo but not wanted in end game. |
