Yesterday we had one of the 'regular' zerg events - 100 vs 100 vs 100, round about. Enough action for you? ;)

Otherwise I think, as far as I can tell, there is sufficient action to be had. BGs are fairly active (depending on time and day) as is the 'big' RvR. I think what Uthgard needs are a few zerg leaders in all three realms to really get the ball rolling tho.

http://uthgard-server.net/modules.php?n ... 28&start=0

really not difficult, won't take long.
One thing tho - Uthgard is lagging behind in terms of the supported client version (as compared to live servers). So if you still want to play on live, you need two daoc installations. There is a patch, linked somewhere on the forums here, that will otherwise allow you to downgrade you current game installation.

Yes, it's OF and both Eld and BM are good choices. Animist will let you lvl quite quickly, but I don't think they are terribly popular in RvR groups (unless in zergs, obviously). The current plan is to implement old RAs, so stay clear of hybrid tanks (no more det for champs).

haven't tried the video - the link explains it all tho (basically you download the game client from Mythic), install DAoC Portal (which let's you connect to Uthgard), install the Old Fronties Mod (explained in the thread) and you are good to go.

Slash BM is fine, I think.

Battlegrounds, atm, are different from live servers.

We have Braemar (20-35), Wilton (36-43), and Thid (44-49). All three are quite active - depending on time and day.

The staff was talking about changing that layout tho - but no ETA yet.

Yes that is exactly what we need. A zerg that sweeps through emain for one hour leaving it deserted afterwards. Just stick to these events if you could -_-

My point was that a zerg leader gets people into RvR that would otherwise not go because they don't enjoy 1vs1 or 8vs8. The point would obviously not be to roll over soloers or groups, but to raid keeps, relics or have fights with the enemy zerg. Many people enjoy this aspect of DAoC, you know, the epic battles realm versus realm.

Lets assume Emain becomes zerg zone (as it has been traditionally on live servers), what's the harm exactly? People who want to do 8vs8 can go elsewhere, same goes for soloers.

Zerg is just another aspect of RvR which people are entitled to enjoy - and it would make the server more lively / attractive for a broader range of players.

Sure that works for me. Since zerging is not my cup of tea I can understand people don't share my preference either.

However what I can not bear are the spontaneous zergs you sometimes have in emain. You'd have multiple groups doing rvr in their fashion untill some ppl start to run them over with two or three times their number. I can totally understand not wanting to 8v8 against certain rr9-11 mid grps which is suicide as a low pug but run in 12 or 14slot gangs or so to keep it fair. Because all that big zergs do in evenings like those is farm all the FGs untill they log off in annoyance. There's sometimes the odd counterzerg but that rarely lasts long and as of a result Emain is empty. Fun times.

The zerg event yesterday is much more likeable. Big numbers so you can have these epic battles and not just 16v8 in Emain which I can't imagine is either epic or fun. AND people who don't enjoy it know it beforehand so they don't have to waste their time trying.

Oh and this comes from someone who actually RvRs very regularly on this server. Not just blowing smoke like certain other people on this forum like to do.
