Ok , coming here from Regnum online, just cant do it anymore the argentinian devs that run the game are just terrible and know nothing about real RVR or PVE for that matter...

So i came here. ive played daoc at release to first expansion , i played a dwarf hunter and a troll zerker,

My question is , is uthgard alot diff then normal daoc? what should i expect? are there alot of active clans and 24/7 rvr?

Also What does midgard need right now besides healers and tank DPS? how are hunters now adays? and bone dancers etc.. thanks all keep checking back in

welcome, uthgard is quite like old daoc... but different

It's fun. Hunters are doing not so well here, bonedancers are not fully implemented yet but still do ok. If you want to do grp rvr in midgard i would stick with zerker, svg, healer, warri, shaman or runemaster.

yeah im thinking zerker, there always good in PVP and no one ever minds having one around, is it all 8v8's or is there some open warfare sometimes?

also are there any north american/english speaking EU clans on the server that are recruiting or recruit and help out newer players?

i cant tell how it is at us prime time, but during EU prime time its most of the time 8v8 (+adds). But seldom real zerg fights. three grps together is considered a zerg, that happens from time to time.

There were some threads from US guilds recruiting here in the forum.

US primetime/latenight is primarily solo/trio action in the primary front zones. groups do form from but it is not always that they can find sufficient inc and they often end up moving to keep capturing, tasking, frontier bosses, etc. the action usually heats up around EU early afternoon which is US mid morning and caps around EU evening which is US mid afternoon.

sadly midgard does not have a largely active english speaking guild. midgards most active guild as i see it is frenchs connection having as of right now 92 active 20+ characters. they have absolutely zero tolerance for english. take a guess at which language they speak. there is no english speaking guild which can compare in midgard, not even 5% of their activity.

i have made several attempts over the years to build my guild up as a decent sized primarily english speaking guild but sadly this is basically impossible. i am rather intolerant of negative behavior in the midgard community. it seems that the americans who come to uthgard have a tendancy to behave very badly. i kicked a whole crew of real life friends from my guild recently for some very heinous anti-uthgard activity. one was even life banned for their misdeeds. it was not the first, second, or third time this has happened either so i've given up. i'll just stick to solo and pug action i suppose

Hazmat also made a try at this and a better one than i could have dreamed of. they broke up recently into several smaller guilds. 1 month ago i would have referred you tot hem but now they are all over the place. i think imperium is the largest splinter group that formed from the remnants of hazmat but they are still rather small.

im not sure why larger guilds have such a hard time forming on midgard on uth. there is definitely a massive core of midgard players who have been here long term and will be here long term. there is a lot of tension between certain people in midgard and always has been. it is a much different climate than i am used to. in 2004 i formed my final ultima online guild and we stayed together as 300+ active members. it was a zerg pvp guild where we would roll the server day and night with 3-5 10 player groups at a time. i left the guild to friends when i quit paying mythic and they have kept it active and popular to this day. i would love to see a guild like this someday here in midgard. the numbers exist for such a feat but the majority have too much pride to do anything but "fair" fighting. in my day war wasn't fair.

Yeah i have had the pleasure of grouping with french connection. They will not talk in group usually or do not speak english or will simply ignore you when spoken to lol, they generally seem elitist and close knit and usually only group together. you never see one alone and if you do there is another one close by in the shadows lmao. All in all im glad i came to uthgard ive been paired with a duo partner since lvl 5 and we are now in our 20's duoing cursed tomb and vendo now, its alot of fun brings back alot of fond memories i havnt RVR'ed yet and im in no hurry to the game has alot to offer anyone really and i look forward to eventually playing with you all.

hah i dont think they speak french because they are french. i know they speak french because of their forum which i have tried to read in vain. i looked at the entire forum not one english word and it is very active.

It's not a secret that France doesn't put as much effort in teaching their children english as other european countries do. But same might count for Italy tbh. Still, there are exceptions

And ofc it's a lot harder to learn english with pure latin roots. It's easier for germans.

But judging people just because of their language skills? Well, ofc Uthgard is supposed to be international which makes english ... preferable .. obviously ^^ But I'd rather see some more players that can't speak proper english instead of fewer players that still don't talk with each other even if they could

I live in california , USA. about the only language we get to learn is spanish so im SOL in the international department.

I know a couple Imperium people and they are very friendly helpful and have some alts around your lvls I believe... you should try grouping with them. Some solid people there.

As for grouping with people who speak other languages etc. I have had a ton of fun with it. Even had a few Germans ask me to help them better their English by correcting them when they are wrong. Its all good clean fun and we get a laugh out of it. My wife goes nuts when she hears french/italian language in the background....ahhh if I only had those accents! lol.
