Hi there, as a celt ranger going peirce, i was wondering what weapons/speed i should get for main hand and off hand. I will be going 40 PF at 50 and will have quick capped in template, so it should get me close to 250? Not sure really, does anyknow know the math ?

250 quick is a hardcap only in TOA setting with %melee speed.
Anyway, you can use a melee swing calculator, to see what will be your max speed. like this one |

ahh so if i have
83 base Quick (lvl 50) 75 from items 68 from self dex/qui buff = 226 Quick *edit with 17% haste charge.... so if i take a 3.0 main hand and a 2.7 off hand, i will have swing speed main hand 1.66 offhand 1.5 overall 1.58 So i am really close to the 1.5 cap, am i looking at this right?? |

In live 250 was the hardcap for quickness in general. Anything over it did nothing for you (even if your weapon speed wasn't capped). Is that the same here?

With 40 PF you have a 63 delve buff which results in +78 dex/qui from buffs. Uthgard till 2003!

Ah thank you.. |

For ranger you get the slowest weapons that can be used on each hand.

Why? Shouldn't be better to find a couple of 2.5 average speed weapons, so to hit (with 250 quick) the 1.5s swing cap? This to proc as many time as possible. I'm asking seriously! I'm not ironic, i'm ignorant ![]() On Uthgard 1.0:

The general concensus on what spd of weapons to use is a slow main hand (3.9 spd or slower) and a fast off hand (3.3 spd or faster). The idea behind this is that, from what i've been told, its a coin flip on what spd will be used so you can potentially get a slow spd weapon to attack at faster speeds from time to time. I actually try and use 2 weapons of comparable speed (I use 3.6 and 3.3 atm since Basalt rapier w/ lifetap is 3.6) and I do this because when performing the side stun I like to have an idea of when I hit the key for the style exactly when it will go off.
Honestly, people get a little too caught up in the spd of weapons on this server. They are all 16.5 dps (damage per second), which means that the dmg over time is essentially the same. Do you want to swing slow for heavier damage or swing faster for smaller chunks of dmg. I prefer faster because it will be harder for them to do reactionary styles when they evade/parry/block. Also, it seems to me that if I can say, just for example, get 10 swings of my faster weapons off in the same time as I can get 5 swings w/ a slower weapon then I have a better chance of doing more dmg. My reason for thinking this is say I swing 10 times and you evade/block/parry 3 swings. Maybe i'm only doing 80 dmg per swing but overall i'm doing say 560 dmg. With the slower weapon only hitting 5 times but hitting twice as hard you would be doing 160 dmg a swing but still evaded/blocked/parried 3 times giving you 320 dmg. Those figures were not from a test, but just an idea of how I look at fast vs slow on weaopns. I will say that my system is by far the minority, but it works for me. |

Ok system on live (was told to me by a CSR on live server) was that you get average speed from both weapons as your attack speed... if you fumble you get the according weapons delay... that means using a 4.2 main and a 2.2 offhand would result in an 3.2 attack speed.
There are no hardcaps on any stats (only were in the very beginning).. quickness has a softcap of 250 beyond which it has no more significant influence on weapon speed Greetings |

For Celtic Dual in Hibernia, I think it is different than Dual Wield in Albion for swing speed mechanics. From what I recall from playing a ranger on live (pre-ToA and all that stuff) was that your swing speed is based off your main hand delay until you swing both in which case the next swing is based off of the delay on your off-hand weapon. The base weapon damage calculations are determined by listed delay which means you can potentially swing near 1.5 seconds (Artificial Haste is what they called it iirc) with the added damage of using a slower weapon. I don't remember how this was confirmed or who tested it but, I do remember it was understood to be the case when ToA came out and Battler/Malice were all the rage for blade rangers/shades with peeps griping about not being able to off-hand either since they were both same delay(Hence, no *Artificial Haste*).

the mechanics i mentioned apply to all dual wielding classes according to the CSR.

Forgive me, when i played for 2 years in the pre Toa era, i've always read and always been told that the cap for the stats was 250. Do i remember badly? If the cap is higher (300?), which are the abilities that get a soft cap at 250, like weapons speed? Thanks. On Uthgard 1.0:
Totenpfeil <Ranger> - Vlath <Hunter> - Toten <Eldritch> - Totentanz <Skald> On Uthgard 2.0: Totenzweig <Druid> - Totentanz <Skald> |

Well it was in the pre SI time that hardcaps were remove iirc, but the softcap on quickness was never lifted, so going beyond 250 quick always was a waste.
And quickness only influences weapon speed (and evade?). Greetings |

isnt bow dmg 50 % quick and 50 % dex?
