Anyone have a good fire wiz template with 99% quality gear? I'm a new player on this server and haven't built up much gold yet, so a cheap template would be ideal.

Since you said that you are new to the server: You have already heard about bugged bolt damage? Just in case, cause there is a reason why there are so few wizards out there..

Yes, I know about wizards. I still enjoy playing one. I'm sure my alt will get lots of attention as my frustration level rises. :)

bolts a bugged eh? is that why i was one shotted by one in braemar yesterday as a 35 SB lol... Wizard shot one of those fire balls at me and poof i fall over...

I think what the problem is , is that bolts can be blocked and people cant handle this..... which is how it was in classic daoc and im sure most of you never started playing live till after 2003-2004 which was acouple years passed vanilla daoc hence why this bolt dmg " bug " has deterred so many new players from some of the dps casters.


Hell i saw a Cave spec shaman yesterday throwing poison bolts at ppl and racking in the RR yesterday so IMO play what you want and play it well and your just as good as one of those other dream team classes..

gregross, just test bolt dmg on dummys and compare it with specline base nukes. my lvl 50 specbolt hits for like 30-40 dmg more than my lvl 47 spec DD ..the bolt has a delve of 331,5 and the DD 219,X ... bolt dmg is definately bugged, theres no reason to discuss that once again. Its known also since a long time by the staff... why nothing has been done yet, i dont know... and taking a 35 braemar toon with probably 0% heat resist is not a really good proof aswell...and the only dps caster being deterred because of this actually is the wizard. Theres plenty runemasters and eldrichs, mostly not in void/runecarving spec but that wouldnt be different even if bolts were configured right, as RM and Eld both have still plenty of utility for a group, unlike the wizard

still dont agree , sure bolts arent what they are supposed to be (i guess).. but they work and they work well they have more range then standard DD spells ,

IMO be what class u want to be and break the cycle of this 8v8 boring ass ******.. lol DAOC is a realm vs realm game not a dream team vs dream team game ...


of course im preaching to a bunch of die hard 8v8'ers but there are guilds on the rise who are trying to break this vicious cycle that is making half the classes pointless..

back in the day in vanilla daoc people zerged, alb zerged, hib zerged, mid zerged , we all made random ass groups because there was so many diff classes and people wanting to RVR back then.

now all you see is a few select classes all wearing the same gear all looking and acting exactly the same like drones...

YES im well aware some classes are better then others in RVR but that doesnt mean that somebody who knows there say... Bow spec scout really well cant contribute ,

i dont need anyone telling me anymore what is wrong with certain classes.. when i play them they seem fine and fun , hell ive even taken my summoner spec spiritmaster to braemar and had a blast sicking my pet on casters while they run around aimlessly till they die lol


So to all you negative ass 8v8 humpers how about thinking outside the box for once in your uthgard life?!?!

Because we have to figure out how to calculate bolt dmg from scratch. Investigate all variables against all types of targets.

If a player would do this it would speed up the process.

good so your apparently someone who likes the wizard, a class that is supposedly useless.. but here you are 10L2 meaning you have contributed quite a bit to putting the enemy to rest..

people can learn from this guy right here, play what u want and you can hit top tier end lvl rvr no matter what you are

The thing is: Bolts have been considered gimp since I can remember on Live.. The whole thing with being in combat, AF and absorb reduction and so on..

Opinions please, are bolts really that big of an issue? Lots of void elds ( :lol: ) waiting for their chance? RM's desperatly waiting for bolt fix to specc RC again? ... Just wondering.. All we can get is the Live system which people complain about since .. ever..

bolt damage is splitted twice

50% of damage will be reduced by the resists
50% of damage will be reduced by AF

my lvl 24 thidranki toon on live (had tons of them^^ rr cap, delete /level 20 and again :D) made many onehits on caster (cap damage about 450)

I just remember loving my bolts with my gimpy earthwizz. Firewizz was so boring I just had to respec. (Bolt,bolt,nuke,nuke,nuke,nuke,nuke). Oh now that I write this I wish we had the new Earth Spec Line here. Nearsight+debuff against casters and snare dd on melees was much welcome in grps that knew the potential of an earth spec. Ae dot rocked in keep Raids and earth bolt followed by the base line fire bolt although rocked against casters. Debuff + 2 Bolts against an eldritch is quite evil, especially when you would be absolutely useless as a nearsighted firewizz

People always wanted them to be stronger and if they were stronger boltspecs would be much better right now and there would be more diversification among caster specs. But according to what I hear (havent played a bolter) bolts are much worse here. Today somebody said in chat that he does about 20 dmg more with his bolt than with his nuke on the same target. that just cant be if the difference in delve is more than 100
