This is a short tutorial on how to run the Dark Age of Camelot with Catacombs models under Wine. The tutorial assumes that you run Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic), but it can be modified to work with other distributions as well.

As i mention in this post i got Catacombs models work under linux and i promised that i would do a tutorial in how to install it.

1. First we need to install WINE 1.1.35, you can download it from this site:
http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/index.html

2. The next step is to download the pre-compiled patch for WINE 1.1.35. You can download it from this site:
http://sd-2.archive-host.com/membres/up ... sPatch.zip

Unpack it to your home folder like this (ACCOUNT = your login name):
/home/ACCOUNT/wined3d.dll.so

3. Now we need to replace the old wined3d.dll.so file with our patched one. The easiet way is to run terminal and typing in this command:

sudo mv -f /home/ACCOUNT/wined3d.dll.so /usr/lib/wine/wined3d.dll.so

4. Excellent! Now when we have patched our WINE we can finally run Dark Age of Camelot with Catacombs models support, in order to connect to Uthgard you need to either use DOLloader or DAoCPortal. Follow these link for more infromation. Just remember that you can ignore disableling Allow Pixel Shader part.

try to run DAoC under PlayOnLinux but when i try to connect to server it always say memory read error in child prozess

1. Download http://www.playonlinux.com/en/download.html

2. Download these wine files: http://www.mediafire.com/?bv7172wtr1e2rrg

3. extracrt it to for example: /home/USERNAME/Download/1.2.2-daoc/

4 Copy it to PlayOnLinux

cp /home/USERNAME/Download/1.2.2-daoc /home/USERNAME/.PlayOnLinux/wine/linux-x86/

5 Install DAoC Portal with the wine version u have added before.

6. Install Dotnet 2.0

7. Play

It worked 4 me on Ubuntu amd64 11.04 natty
