Looking for Player Hosted Event Ideas

Netchel is bored at work again...
I have still been logging in reguarly most nights, and find that things have gotten rather monotonous. It seems we are in need of some silly player hosted events to keep people interested. I am looking for some suggestions and feedback on what people would be interested in, and possibly some people willing to help run some. Ideas I have so far: 1) Championship Duels (can also include side wagers on this as well). reward would either be plat or some nice item, and there would be a modest buy in to join unless someone was willing to flat out donate the prizes. decisions between boring shield classes (pally v pally) would be made by referee's decision after X (5?) minutes. the problem here is that some classes are absolute cheese in 1v1 (caugh, infils, cough), so im not sure if running a tournament would even be fun. maybe have different "weight classes" to keep the cheese classes from fighting the others? 2) Casino Night in Camelot. this is severely hindered by the lack of cards on uthgard. so this is mostly limited to /random and /roll games. the house always wins tho, so it wouldnt be too hard to find helpers. still there is a reasonable way to assign cards for simple games like blackjack using /random if you assume infinite decks. problem here is few people ever want to play. 3) Theatre Night in Camelot. pick your favorite shakespearean play, get a few actors together, create lvl 1 toons for each character, and go to town. would probably have to skip 50% of the content to keep the show down to a reasonable amount of time, but its doable. downside is I dont think anyone would show up. 4) Return of the Auctioneer! (Netchel). set a time, and set up an auctioneer stand in Camelot. sellers provide thier items for a low fee, and they are given a position in the queue of items. highest bid for queue position gets to go first (before people run out of money). items go up for auction and sell to highest bidder. All sales final. 5) Chinese Auction. I need to figure out how to work this. option 1 would be buying rolls, then when biddign closes all roll the number of times they had bought, highest wins. option 2 would be assignign ticket numbers when they buy in, and writing them down, then /randoming as the auctioneer at the end, and going down the list to see who won (eg 120 tickets for an item sold for 100g each, I would /random 120 and then check on the list to see who won), people would be told which number was thiers in advance so that they too could confirm who won. risk here is lack of interest causing items to sell for grossly under thier market value. but if the interest is high enough, one could in theory both sell a high plat item for a ton more than it is worth, and maybe win one for less than a hundreth of its value. ---------------------------- any other ideas anyone might have? any suggestions on a good time to run such an event? -I was thinking a saturday afternoon, US EST time (my time, I think that is GMT-5). that way i could tap the euro market for population. downside is that often conflicts with dragon raids and whatnot. |

Ive hosted a tournament once before and it was fun. The problem was that i wasted several plats on the rewards for each category.
I had stealth vs stealth, tank vs tank, caster vs caster and support vs support. support duels looked following: 2 HO armsmen nacked respec full pole + slash/thrust without parry and hit each other with the lvl34 cheese style. The clerics fullbuffed those armsmen each and healed them. The arms who died first means that the looser cleric went OOM... Problems were: -this was an alb event only. -i had to make the rewards myself, 1st mp weapons, 99% weapon, 3rd mp boots/gloves/shield -i had to make those armsmen weapons(99% poles were fine) -The winner were cabba, infi, friar, cleric, obviously(ofc friars could decide to enter either tank or support category, the choice is obvious). -you are bound to loose the lines at some point and the player will blame you(i know it, i lead lots of dragonraids, and i dont think i will again anytime soon because this eats up a lot more time than you might think). Cant find the screenshots right now, they were uploaded to the old server so i dont know if the new one still has them around somewhere. And the general issue is, that most players, at some point think of your actions natural and expect you to do this and this gets on your nerves pretty quick. |

lol yeah thats my fear. why bother showing up if anything but the top dog classes.
99% of 1v1 is class and RR (with class being probably 80-90% of that). so little comes down to playstyle its not even fun to watch. still, im bored to tears and looking to get people out and doing something. |

Start a zerg event? Just after DR on fridays, or saturday. Could let players from lvl 40+ join.
Thinking about it maybe start a guild that dont care about angry high RR whining about adding and such, not a directly evil guild but one, when it comes to rvr, add and zerg everything. Red should be dead. |

Hrmm I just might be able to fill that role. Its not that I particuarly care one way or another on the matter, but I love trolling people. My problem with zerg events is that they require patience. I have none of that.
Netchel does not wait for people who miss port. Netchel does not hold up 40 people because one LDed. Netchel especially doesnt loop for people who lost stick while AFK. Because of these factors, when Netchel's zerg gets to its destination (actually on time), the zerg is more like 1fg ![]() --------------------------------------- But.. I will totally give it a try. To make it holiday season themed, and to disorient anyone who might potentially come... Odin's gate will be the stompign ground instead of emain ![]() Saturday, December 3rd, 3PM EST (EST=GMT-5, so 8PM GMT)r ally and form groups, 3:30 PM zerg. Goals will be: -Occupy Svasud (little polital humor for ya) -Stealzor any Relics we can. -Get flamed for zerging ![]() -Collect RPs -Open every keep gate so that groups can mass farm guard missions if hibs and mids dont show (some part of me tfinds the idea of 40 manning guard missions hilarious). ------------ LVL 1 toons from enemy realms that want to risk a ban (sadly nerobit is still banned and will not be ble to fill the role of the xrealmer) will totally be informed of where we are going. Im not big on secrets and adore confrontation. so everyone in bg will know where we are going. if there are 50 mids or hibs waiting when we get there, then we get the zerg fight we are looking for. If a GM bans you for dual logging, thats your own dumb fault for cheating. |

Well, on a scale of 1 to fail, that what an 11
![]() Albs started a dragon raid 20 minutes before zerg time, and albs don't know how to port to Odin's. Oh well, I tried. ---------------- Any other feasible event ideas? I'm a bored bored man with significant free time. I also have no shame. The more I get busted on in /b, the more laughs I get out of logging in. |

*Everyone roll a level 1 inconnu
*Starting line is at CS *The winner is the first person to die by mpk guards *prizes could be sexual favors by netchal, gold, stuff, more favors by netchal Relvinian4President2k17

First, thank you for the idea contribution
![]() originally i wasnt loving the idea, but them all being inconnu does make me laugh. Inconnu make the best death sounds. And Alb old frontiers are somewhat difficult to navigate without aggro, especially when albs only know how to port to emain. ----------------------------------- as for prizes, I have 20-100 plat in taj loot that is currently not being used. or I can plan a raid with a few friends and preclaim all loot for these kind of events. I think my plan is to use the most attractive loot for the least attractive events. and see if i can bait people to come out. Hell, given how bad the last zerg event went, I might have to throw in some churiel loot just to get anyone to port to odins ![]() ------------------------------------ Lemme look at my schedule and see when is a good time for the event. I have a lot of stuff going on at home over the next week or two so its hard to plan anything. But if we get some good ideas together and a nice loot horde, I could run a series of events for everyone during the peak population times between christmas and new years when so many people are off from work or school. please keep the event ideas coming. I truely appreciate any help I can get, even if it is just posting a crazy event idea. I will do my best to support anything that looks feasible. |

Anyone interested in the following?
Event Name: Weeknight Guard Task Zerg Realms: Alb only, zerg event Level Requirements: None, but Id strongly suggest 35+ When: TBD (I'm thinking a couple evenings a week, 7-11 PM EST) Where: TBD depending on RvR and keep situation of the night. Rewards: 1-2 plat per person per night, 20-30k RPs per person per night. How: - each group would need speed. when you can clear a keep of its guards in a coupel minutes, running between keeps is a major factor - each group would be assigned a retasker (someone with a second toon that they can relog to for new missions. dont dual log; you will get banned). coordinating retaskign with multiple groups mgiht prove difficult. initially all groups would be at similar guard counts. but very quickly they would diverge until somebody was relogging at every keep. - each group would be assigned a climb walls toon (while most guards can be hit from outside or dragged outside, there are often a few that need someone inside. this requirement could be loosened if rams are brought to knock down doors. but usualy theres someone in each realm that thinks its fun to upgrade keep doors to lvl 10. and in the time it takes to open a lvl 10 door, one can do 3+ guard missions. Why?: - Guard tasks yield consistant rps even as the ally vs enemy ratio shoots through the roof. for those who try to rvr on weeknights US time, it is often more a game of mowing the lawn in emain and finding nothign to fight. and no, soloing on a stealther is not what I see as RvR. - The more people you have, the faster the rps are. you get a flat 1250 rps a task. so the faster you can kill 20 gaurds, the more rps per hour. - given the dynamic of group guard missions, multiple groups can receive credit for the same gaurd kills. each just needs to dmg each guard, unlik ethe 51% rule for solo missions. - the more people you have, the more likely you are to inspire some enemies to come out and defend. the potential to actually generate some real weeknight rvr action is significant. - significant profit in both money and rps. |

Netchel is going to be home alone for New Year's this year. Seems like a good time for an event. Anyone have something they would like to do to ring in the new year? When in doubt i can always graba few rams and go die at a relic keep.

Honestly, I'm getting pretty burned out of the game.
Keeping out whatever gripes I may have about the potential directions the server mgiht be heading in, it really comes down to the weather. Now that winter is over and daylight savings has kicked in, its gloriously sunny out when I get home from work. it really isnt worth logging into game when I could get outside an enjoy the world. I still want to help some people out with a few raids and events, but I just cant commit the joblike hours that I had been. I will try to run taj this weekend to get people access to the zones while they still have a chance to see it. ----------------------------- Next on my list for real events I would like to try is a stealth zerg event. but I need to find some way to disuade fgs of visis running a mos bot from ruining the fun. |
