These questions are going out to our over all playing rangers.

Is there any serious/high different in Dmg if you are playing your Ranger as Lurikeen/Elf/Shar regarding on...

Bow Specc?

I'm forced to be a Keen?

Are there some nice templates out there? Talking about good dropped weaps, Taj2, Taj, Dragon - looking for good Skin/Proc.

Kind regards

We don't need more Rangers.

Elf > Luri though.

[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> that's what I learnt

lordgriffon wrote:Oh by the way... ever seen a group of 8 smite clerics? Or play against a group like that? I have. Absolute devastation. The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

i almost retired my ranger, playing ns atm. But here's my advice

for low rr, i'd stay melee spec along these lines

40+ path (or 42)
12 bow (u can still critshot for ok dmg)
36 blades
39 CD
36 stealth

worked very well for me till rr5. Practice with side stun (it's almost an anytime for me now) and u won't miss diamondback.
After RR5 that u can spec 35 bow (more is a no-go)

item wise, i have harpy gaze and basalt sword. USe harpy till u get the debuff in, then switch to basalt or crafted.
OH: crafted with dot.
Bow: best would be bedlam if u are 35 bow (critshot + rapid fire then). If u are melee, i find more useful a 4.5 spd crafted one.

Any race suggestions?

I'm not sure atm thats because Im asking and i've got a Keen Ranger and Shar ranger - I'd like to play a mix between Bow and melee thought- or even I wouldnt like to be forced to play one or the other caused by the choosen race...

Kind regards

Celt ranger. Can spec blade or piercew/o too much droppoff. I ran a hybrid spec pierce celt ranger foor a while worked very well.

Well every race has its pros and cons

luri: better for sniping and hybrid specs
elf: nice racial resists (went elf for my NS for example, +thrust and +slash are good)
celt: better looks, good all around to try different specs. Good if u gonna start melee and then switch to hybrid at rr5
shar: wouldn't choose one if u plan to be hybrid on the long run, but still good if u spec blades (and blades only)

ps. item wise, get a ravager pride or gk bracer of chaos in ur template: stacking double add dmg for 30 secs is very good for rangers ;)

Thanks Kryss

I think I have to run another new ranger then - since my Keen ranger doesnt fits my "good"-looking aspects anymore and my Shar ranger would be forced to be Slash - and only slash :(

But since it's easymode to xp ranger and bring him trough BGs it will be a lot of fun to get another one to 50... :D

Kind regards

Decent Slash Weaps? (Nice effect, speed, procs?)

Kind regards,

Best proc for for Ranger is DoT really. So just get a crafted weapon.
If you go slash you could use a Harpy's gaze (d/q debuff) until the first proc, then swap.

Uthgard 1.0: <Die Lettanten> Ivia - 8L8 Nightshade - Lone Enforcer since 8L1.
Uthgard 2.0: <Illuminated Stormriders> Oxy - Hero; Ivia - Nightshade.

as i already said

If pierce: 2x crafted with dots
If slash: Harpy+something else (basalt, or crafted with dot) after D/Q debuff goes in. Keep in mind that taj items will eventually be nerfed, and that GMs will introduce item decay, so I'd go with crafted anyway if u don't wanna farm a lot

Hey guys, new player here on Uthgard (played live years ago though).
I see someone say leveling a ranger is "easymode", how is that ?
Is this autotraining ? With funds from higher char or just plain new without money here ?
Thanks

The one talking about -easymode- XPing a ranger has got a pretty decent base in all three realms ... as ranger you got some selfbuffs that help you while XPing solo but that´s it.
