I think you mean Light Eldritch. ;) That setup or they drop the Eld for another BM I believe.
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> You have to be a c*** to be awesome at daoc
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> that's what I learnt
[3:11pm] <Frosty_> then why does austerim suck
lordgriffon wrote:Oh by the way... ever seen a group of 8 smite clerics? Or play against a group like that? I have. Absolute devastation. The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

To make it a bit more simple for you, the average Hib RvR set up is 2xDruids, Bard, Hero, 2-3 BM's, and a light eld. If you run with 2 BM's then usually fill in w/ warden for last sport, or u run w/ the extra dps. Some people will put champs and vw's in place of bm's but not all will. That at least give you an idea of the classes most wanted for frontier RvR.

** As Austerim pointed out I originally stated light ment and I meant to put down eld. Whoops :) Problem corrected :)

Ok so really we need to play either Druid/Bard, Druid/Blademaster, or possibly Bard/Light Eldritch to ensure we can get into the RvR groups easily. Thanks! :)

Thanks, but we never have been interested in stealth classes. :)

I didnt read through all posts but i think that

Bard/Eld

is the most effective duo for leveling purposes AND very good choices in 8-man RvR AND one of the strongest rvr duo's out there (well, charge3 hurts you but you should outkite everything else ^^).

XPing: you got endu bot and, for max efficency, mana specced eld (until 50 then respec to light). This base is just trololo just find yourself ANY melee guys and tell them to spam 1111111111 for taunts and your bombs will powerlvl you. (fill up with more bombs or ani and more taunts for more powerlvl trolo)

RvR: as written, every grp needs a bard, most grps want a light eld. (aoe snare dd/disease for kiting/focussing and NS <3)

duo: faceroll em all, runrunrunrun and win. :P

my 4 cents

*edit:

Classes to avoid for RvR (although im not quite active since half a year):

Champ - I mean, I got a champ, but most grps dont like the fact that you got no Stoicism and need at least mid+ RR to outbalance this with det5 and purge (leaving out offensive RAs ....)

Ench/Ment/Anim - Again, i got a ment myself, but all three belong to solid caster group setups, which sadly hibs dont run anymore.

/nostalgy
I played in some good caster grps long time ago, but today all I see is Melee Grps leaving Druim Ligen. Be it because Tankspam is the strategy most easy to play with Uthgard patch state or because you can do everything perfect with caster grp and still often rely on (good) enemys making the mistakes to win.
*you MAY get grps with Mentalist (2nd demezz, 2nd mezz, powernukes, petclears) or Animist but well... rarely seen.

Yeah unless my wife decides she does not want to play a Light Eldritch I think we'll probably go Bard/Light Eldritch, seems to make the most practical sense over-all from what I've read/been told.

I d still go Bard BM, lvling is much easier since u dont need anyone else and in end rvr you need more BMs and its the better Duo on Uthgard.

Yes I understand that, but my wife doesn't want a Blademaster and she always has tried a Bard and didn't like it on Live, so she isn't going to play either of those classes, so I'm working with what she'll play and then I need to try and fill the gaps with another class. :)

ah k, Bard eld is a really good duo dont get me wrong , i lvled like that as well, but u alway ve to build pve groups since just on their own it will suck. and it gets on your nerves to keep them going :D

Tell the wife that often in marriages both sides have to compromise to get things done. . .and that YOU are the boss!! What you say goes and to deal with it and play bm!!! :p

+1 bard/eld.

The bard/eld combo also has the advantage that since the eldritch will usually not be accepted in any pve raid, while you go Legion or Dragon with your bard, she will have plenty of time to take care about the housework :D

Hey guys,

I thought I'd get a jump on Uthgard and scope out some of the early leveling spots and stuff. I downloaded the DoL portal and got the older game.dll file to allow me to play on Uthgard. The problem is when I installed another copy of camelot for Uthgard play using my camelot DVD (latest expansion), it gives me an error when I try to patch the file to the DoL portal. Says file path not valid. I am on Vista, my primary camelot program is on the C drive, and the other I put on the Cx86 to avoid confusion for me and such. I'm probably just going about this wrong, but would be thankful for some tech support from you guys if possible. :)

your DVD version i guess to be way older than the ddl you downloaded.

Start you dvd version with normal .exe, let it patch itself to latest official version and THEN sobstitute the .dll file manually in the game directory.
The game.dll file must not be patched by Daoc portal, the work must be done manually. Daoc portal must be used to patch OF, crafting fix and, if you like them as me, old icons. (Oh yes, and to install Tajendi expansion).
