Hiya guys,

I'm new to Uthgard, but, not to Dark Age. (Played almost since release). I've always played Midgard, with 2-3 50s there on Live. I've always loved Albion, though, never played it much (Highest character level I had was a 40 Friar) and I was looking to come back to Dark Age to begin playing again (I'm too cheap to pay for live ) but I couldn't decide which Realm to go to.

I wanted to come to Albion and probably roll a Sorc (how do they handle on Uthgard?) I was trying to get a feel for which of the three realms is the nicest and willing to help out the beginners. (I never had to go complete solo at the beginning, always had a family member by my side to back me up.)

I was hoping to get a foot-hold in Albion by finding a guild that'll take Uthgard-beginners but Dark Age-vets.

Before I forget, I'm in the Eastern Time Zone of the United States.

Thanks to any and all responses, look forward to see you on the field!

Halbu

Hey mate,

I've been playing here since July; I was in the same boat as you when I started up here (played from beta through to shortly after SI and a bit of ToA/NF).

I'm playing a cabalist at the moment (level 42) but you will find sorcs to be a pretty money class both in PvE and RvR. Being on the east coast of the US you'll find that the server has a pretty low population during your primetime but it's still possible to find groups, at least for levelling. Not sure what RvR will be like. Sticking with Clan Cots for the first little while is probably a pretty good idea too.

Hope that helps for a start.

I went with a Cabalist in the end. Easy money class. I plan on sticking in Clan Cotswold for quite a bit. Love the people in the guild.

Only thing I don't like is the constantly running outta power, but, I expected that...

Put 3 points into spirit so that you can recycle your pet for mana. Put the rest into matter so you can farm easily.

Recycle Pet doesn't help a whole lot, at least at lower levels from what I've seen.

The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

Im tired of hearing this, why ppl still say it? I have 2 cabbys (both of them lvled as matter) and never needed sere or pow pots, only stop farming to recycle pet and after full pow go on farming again

pet recycle requirements: 3 in spirit line, have staff with focus and use amber simulacrum to recycle

So should I put some in Spirit to get Pet Recycle? I've been using crack pots and insta crack to keep my pow up.

Iirc, the amount of power you get back from recycling has a linear correlation to the amount of hit points your pet has. I'm not sure if the amber pet's own con buff works, but even without the buff it should have more HP than any pets (bar jade). Meaning more power per cycle!

Self Con buff isn't in for the Amber pet. :(

if you put 3 points to spirit your matter will be always -1 of your lvl until lvl 40,5. so feel free to put rest of your points into spirit. more points in spec, more benefit from focus on staff. which means pet summon with lower power cost, more power from cycling, better pet heals with less power.

pet recycle was fixed so it uses spirit-spec points for determining the power u get back...however, from what i hear (got a spirit cab myself so dunno for matter cabs myself) pet recylce is still viable for non-spirit-cabs too...

amber pet returns more power, cause the power returned is based on pets current hitpoints...and amber pet has much more life then the others...

thats all there is...3 points in spirit are sort of a must for any cab, so go for it :)

sidenote: with 50+ (46+x) spirit amber pet returns 50% of power...so 2 cycles and you're full again :)...non-spirit cabs need 4-5 pets for this, if not more :D
