Hello! I recently discovered Uthgard and have been screwing around for the past few weeks and I’ve decided to make Albion my home. I’ve played DAoC quite a bit, and I’ve read these forums as much as I can, but I still have some questions:

I am interested in two classes, but I get the impression from what I have read they are sort of opposites in terms of demand (please correct me if I am wrong!):

Sorcerer: Must have in RvR, Not invited to raids

Reaver: Okay in RvR (but many ppl prefer Merc) but more raid invites

On the other hand, Sorcerer should be much cheaper to level and template compared to the Reaver.

Right now the thought of a Sorc only having to get 1 staff SCed with focus levels instead of a new weapon every 5-10 levels with a Reaver is really leaning me toward Sorc.

I would also love to find a solid guild for my play style, but that will probably just come with time. I’m located on the west coast of America (UTC – 8) and I am a little worried about it being dead when I get off of work at 5pm :(

Welcome to Albion!

For your playtime maybe ask someone from MYTH, think there you find some ppl in your timezone and they are friendly :)

Sorc vs. Reaver
Personally i would prefer Reaver for first toon. As u said more invites to raids (good for making money) and not the worst choice for RvR. The ´´problem´´ with new weapons(or armor) is not really a problem. Reaver was also my first toon on Alb that hit 50, with some coins and a bit luck u will find crafters that will make firsttry gear for materialcosts. For template at 50, yes sorc is a bit cheaper due to the fact that cloth is cheaper than chain. But its also possible to get a good startertemplate for a Reaver that doesnt need much money or highend Drops.
Another thing is the option to level solo, this will work great on reaver but will be horrible with sorc i guess. Just grab a hammer and spec crush for leveling an u will have not much downtime.

regards

Thanks for the info. On a reaver I am debating autotraining, because my spec at 50 would be:
50 Flex, 42 Shield, 36 SR, 16 Parry (20 parry with auto-training).
I wouldn't gain a whole lot by autotraining, and I would be forced to buy a respec stone. I also imagine that it would be more fun to level with a flex.
However, it may be really hard to find any flexers in housing compared to maces. And I hear maces use less endo.

i can only repeat what i say to all autotrain classes,
go for autotrain all the way to 48, you will bite youreslf in the arse later if you don't. You xp so slowly that you want the best possible char.

I totally agree!! AT can be painful but u will love it when u finish. Isnt so hard for reavers, u will be invited in exp grps anyway (if u know how to play it ofc )
It's the thrill of the chase
and I'm coming after you.
