Old Alb player. How is Uthgard RVR?

Hey All,
I have been away for almost 2 years now and have the itch to return. Started on Guinevere then Merlin and am a pure RVR player. Some of my characters are Centar,Warcloud, Feartorious and Tactician. Seen this Classic rvr and may come here instead. I am wondering how the rvr is and how the realm balance is. |

It's almost exactly like classic. There are a few high utility items from Taj, but it's great otherwise.

This server isn't the Bossiney (Lamorak, Gareth, Ector) "classic".
Our patch level uses new frontier RA's with SI era abilities and classes. |

rvr is very close to classic except worse template/lower stats, no cure nearsight and terrible mana regeneration.
the result is that casters are much weaker here than even on classic. so pretty much every group is a buttlaod of dual wield charge tanks, speed, 1 blockbot, and a couple support. albs are forced to run more casters given that our primary cc is a sorc, hence why albs only make 29% of the realm points. the dominance of duel weild tanks (especially zerkers) is obvious when you look at the server statistics and how well mids do. that being said... if they can extend, survive charge, and deal with power issues, a caster group can do rather well on uthgard. particuarly because groups don't see them often. so play whatever you like, and have fun. |

If you want RVR go to mid/hib... Alb is basically the secondary realm for mids/hibs to come to and create elite 8mans with people they know on mid/hib. Unless you want to strictly solo, then alb would be fine.

Sweet, think im going to give it a shot. I have a sorc but I like the tanks. Ive really liked playing Armsman. How are the armsman here and do they give out the damage like daoc?

I'm curious if you can elaborate on this? Compared to SI days the available items are similar (except even better through Taj), you didn't have cure nearsight back then either and mana regen still had the 50% penalty on cloth casters. So why would the be that much weaker than back then? |

easy, you had on live first ToA, than new RA. so you could encounter those charge3 tankgrps with bodyguard and other stuff. here we have new RA and no ML's. i thinks its the main reason why caster/castergrps do way worse than they ever did on live. |

Not to mention that curing classic times, there was no charge, purge on a much longer timer and 100% MOC (generally, the old RA layout made it more viable for casters to actually spec it). On Uthgard, casters are mostly utility and work mainly in very specific setups and coordinated team play, since they are otherwise just charged down by a high RR dual-wielder with a 1min timer on 'do-whatever-you-want'.

Not to mention no access to casting speed %, something that is unique to combination of pre-toa settings and NF RA.

Same for melee speed bonus.
You're right, in order to be closer to classic feeling, the RA charge sould be completly removed ![]() Dual wield would still have enough advantage to remain a must have class in all rvr group ![]() RIP : Ectoplasme

Oh god yes fck Charge. It's unfortunate that the staff is quite reluctant to make changes like this. |
