got a Q on hunters:

i wanna go fullspec bow and now i'm unsure which melee-weapon to use...i wanna avoid melee as much as possible and kite whenever possible (except maybe vs casters ), so melee-dmg doesn't matter...also wanna go LW3 or 4 and stuff, but that's not to be discussed here please...

now char-planner says that sword gets a snare at 15 and 18...15 is follow up of side-style, 18 of anytimer but only 9s snare...

spear gets snare at 15 which chains off the taunt, which is quite nice...and i could spend more points in stealth (planning 35 right now which would give me 49 at 4L2)

which is better? i prefer sword, as the little extra-blocking is a a nice bonus when meleeing...however a 9s snare as a little short for running away, right?...14s sounds much better

questions:
1. is the info in charplan correct?
2. do sword of spear have any other advantages/disadvantages i miss?
3. any hunter with experiences on one of the specs using the snare?
4. is 43 bc viable instead of 42? i only get the last speed-burst, and imho it doesn't matter if i have 195 or 180% speed...either i get hit or not...when i'm off, i'm off...or not

Personaly i would spec hunter like that:
50 bc
36 bow
36 stealth
26 spear

mos5 and pet, you dont need any snare then

Yeah mos5+augdex3+lw1+falcon eye and you rox

Or spin around like mad, use ip, buff pots, heal pots and let blue pet do all damage....

any1 with experience on the snare styles? i dont need spec-advice, i'm determined to go for 50 bow and 42/43 bc, rest stealth and melee (18 sword or 15 spear)...that's all i'm asking for, thanks

I use 21 slash style on my minst in order to kite - its 12 seconds snare - and that is more than enough to get some distance.

Yeah 10% damage makes a huge difference, bow hunter is unplayable!!! Playing kite 5.5 bow is to slow anyway, you need 1.5 sec rapid fire not 1.7sec.
You dont need lw3/4, just take lw2 mos5 and you will win stealth wars.
Hunter is the best bow class for stealth wars, most people just dont know how to play it.

you need mos5 and only mos5 dont even think about lower lvl and then u ll ve points for lw1-2

And minstrel dd /flute mezz and casters mezz/stun, snare ....

Btw - viper3 dot ticks for like 140 damage.... Though, most good assassins dot again. So purge wont help very much.

Well you can try to run without endupots but stealth wars or all kind of solo boils down to

buffs
pots
charges
ra timers

If you skip one of those you will have it a lot harder.
Just throw an endu reg 3 before the fight or at the beginning so you can sprint without losing endurance at all with lw2.
There is almost no stealther out there with lw2, after 1 min they will be out of endu and free rp.

Ok IM gonna try and bring this train wreck of a thread back on the rails.

Sounds like you dont want to melee at all. If thats true, I would go sword with the shield in those times you find yourself in melee. Then use the spamable snare till it hits. With 1H sword it should be quick and sprint back to range.

If you go spear your snare is dependent on a chain (too much time in melee). The spear is very slow (too much time in melee). and evade/block/parry breaks your chain (undependable snare).

Extra info
"sword of spear have any other advantages/disadvantages i miss?" Spear can use thrust or slash damage, sword is only slash but you wont melee so it doesnt matter

I actually like 43 run buff speed. With LW sprint you can actually chase down most anything including the occasional minstrel low on endurance

sword has an anytime-snare? which one? charplanner says it's a chain as well...

hmm so bc 43 IS useful? hmm gonna rethink my spec then

and the prob about pots is not the money but the annoyance of having to run to vault all the time and get new pots...

oh and as for experience: i get to play like 30 min a day if at all...so it will take looooong until i reach 50...and even longer before i got some experience in end rvr
